Hi everyone. I'm new here. I'm from San Diego. I purchased my first S&W 686-6 .357 Magnum revolver today. It was made in 2007 and has never been fired (except the factory test).

I would like to learn about these revolvers and wood grips for them. Mine comes with a factory Hogue monogrip.

Thanks!

What barrel length is it, and would you show a photo of the gun and holster?
Kind regards and welcome to the family!

Welcome!
You live in a beautiful area... I've visited one of your LGSs (off Palomar Airport Drive) but, couldn't make a purchase as a non-state resident.
I hope you stick around. This is a great group.

Thanks,

Sadly here in California, after you purchase it and pass your background check it has to stay in "Jail" (AKA the gun shop) for 10 days, so I don't actually have it yet.

Welcome from way over in Virginia. Congrats on your 1st Smith

Yes the LGS off of Palomar Airport Drive is my local gun shop Gunther's guns. Nice guys, helpful, etc. They helped talk me into it but I ended up purchasing one off of a gun forum like this one called Calguns.com

Factory target grips. Where can I find those? Ebay? I was hoping to keep cost down but I also believe in buy once, cry once.
Welcome from Southern Illinois!. tons of different wood grips available for that one, look at factory targets

It is a 6" barrel, 6 shot revolver. It was made in 2007 but never fired. It was a give away as part of a raffle. That owner never shot it and sold it to another S&W revolver collector who preferred 4" barrels so he claims he never shot it either. I intend to shoot it though. It's in locked up in "Jail" at the local gun shop for 10 days even though I passed my background check and have several other firearms. So, I don't have a picture just yet and I don't have a holster just yet. Is there one you recommend?
