Ok, I was in a local gun store and I could not resist this K-22. The serial number is K 1489xx, I think it is 1952. It sure is in better shape than me for its age! It is my 3rd S&W in the last year or so, I think I am hooked. I am now looking for a good Highway Patrol in 6 inch. I want to stay married, what am I going to do....

Hi, Mark. Welcome to the group. We'll help, but it's unlikely you'll get cured of anything here, except maybe spare pocket change.

I'd stay away from them K-22s. They're tough to kick. The Combat Magnums aint much easier to get over either. And the N frame are really bad - be careful.

I started off on Baby Chiefs and look at me now. If you thought you could come here for help, I'm sorry.

Nice Masterpiece, by the way.

Teach your wife to shoot. Nice looking K-22!

Nice looking K22. This is the wrong place to come if you want to overcome a S&W addiction, like an alchoholic going to a bar to get cured.
You need to convince your wife that 3 Smiths in one year is not bad at all, there are many on the forum that can vouch for that. Every time I bring a new gun into the house I just say I traded for it. Sometimes I trade a gun and sometimes I need to trade cash for the new to me gun.

Let us know how the k22 shoots.

Repeat after me "Honey, when I've assumed room temperature you're gonna make a lot of money selling them to my friends on the S&W Forum."
Let us know how it works.:D

Yep . . . drawn like a Moth to the Flame . . . seekers of the "Light!";)

There is a 12-step program to treat this addiction, and you are now only 9 guns away from completing it :) . Notice I didn't say cure...

Nice K-22.

Mark, There are two gun shows in Tucson this coming weekend ( Sept 18-19th) . Hock the farm, take the wife and hit the shows. Tell the little lady to bring a large purse to help carry the S&Ws that you buy! Stop by my table at the T.C.C. Roadrunner show and say 'Howdy" It will have a blue S&WCA table cover - can't miss it! I'll be the good looking guy sitting next to Dan M.! I can tell your wife a little story:
When I was first married , I took my wife to a large Gun Show in Los Angeles, bought a table but didn't bring any guns. During set up I walked around the rooms and bought several thousand dollars worth of guns, put them on my empty table and sold them all by the end of the show and bought her a new car with the profits. That was over 50 yrs ago and I have never heard a complaint yet about my gun dealing. It still bring her something nice after every show I do. Good luck, Ed.

Mark, this is tricky. I've worked 2nd jobs in a gun shop to feed the habit and pay for elk hunts. This site is not a beacon of redemption. It is more like a colony of Zelots. Yea, that's it, folks who are over zelous about their hobby. No addicts here, just hobbiests. Whew I feel better now, I'm just a zelous hobbiest. Hey, know where we can score a29-2 or a 5"27? What about a Registered? I'm thinking I need an 18. Got one brother hobbiest?

Hello Opoefc,
I will try and make that show, Sunday is the wife's birthday so it may be a hard sell. There is some good mexican food down by the TCC so maybe. If I can make it, I will stop by for sure!

My friend, you are in serious trouble. If this a a "support group" then we will do what we can to further your addiction to the S&W home for wayward souls:) Welcome,Kyle

Help for the wife

If it's any help you can recount this tale to your ever suffering wife.
I have bought many guns in my life (by UK standards) and have always managed to sell them at break even or a profit after using them for as long as I could.
Remember to tell her what they are worth so (should the worst happen) she will not sell them to the first shyster to "clear out these old guns".
My main collection is gunbooks, some have become quite valuable since I purchased them. None are super expensive so they need keeping in a safe but I recon I wil make a return on investment greater then a savings account.
Guns perform even better, but it is difficult to collect guns in the UK (and pistols are even harder to collect, being virtually banned).
So feed your addiction without guilt, you are providing for the family's future, at least as good as any other investment, and you can enjoy this investment - unlike stocks & shares.

The slope is slippery and Long once you are on it and your only waking thought is your next S&W fix.

Yeah he's easy to find. just look for the guy with the BIG set of ears behind the Blue table cloth :D:D:D
Hope to see ya there Mark.

your only waking thought is your next S&W fix.
That exactly describes my symptoms.

Welcome, fellow doomed traveler. It just so happens I'm looking for a k-22 just like that. Funny how that happens.

Fyimo, you are so right! Right after I paid for the K 22, I found myself asking Charlie (my S&W "pusher"), if you get a nice HP with a 6 in. barrel, maybe I would take a 4 in., give me a call!" I am doomed.

There is no cure. you are hopelessly doomed to drooling over Registered Magnums, and fondling early M&P's. Should you succumb to Model 1 1/2's and safety hammerless you are doomed to staying up late going over Gunbroker & Auction Arms, maybe Guns International. Visit the Forum often to learn new excuses and where to find other treasurers. You will not find a cure here, but we will feed your addiction.

Hi Mark,

All I can say is you're in good company chasing a repeat of that first great find. I've been doing it for 35 years, and I haven't hit bottom yet.

/c

My addiction is currently being treated by copious amounts of ammunition and accessory purchaces. But I still think about the "fix"!
