Hi Point 9mm

I wish I had good things to say about the Hi-Point 9 I had. Maybe it was a lemon, but I tried several different factory rounds and it jammed every other shot. Double feeds, FTFs, stove pipes, you name it. The customer service and warranty were outstanding. They sent new magazines twice thinking it was a spring issue. I polished the feed ramp and cleaned and oiled as directed. No go.

I decided that I either get really good throwing it or trade it in and use the money for something that worked. So I took my $75 and used it toward a new Shield 9.

By all means, if that's all you can afford in order to protect your self and family then pick one up. Just make sure it will in fact, go bang.

Count me in as a former 40 owner. I'll echo many others by saying they work really well especially when you consider what they cost, they're bulky, heavy, have low capacity, are hard to break down and DANG they're ugly. But they are straight blow backs and their accuracy is amazing. I traded the one I had and don't miss it, but will never second guess any owner that says they like theirs. ;)

Form follows function is the motto I guess. I have a neighbor that got two in .45 and he loves them. They are made in USA.

Not my cup of tea, but it seems like the are pretty reliable.

I have the 995 9mm carbine. It costs about 300 beans vs. 800+ for the Beretta version. Came with three 10-round mags. The thing is a tack driver at 50 yards. Zero FTFs, FTEs, etc. with all types of ammo - mostly reloads.

I'm not recommending them, but mine is great and has that lifetime warranty.

I think it is encouraging that there are still low-cost, no frills manufacturers that do not over-engineer providing competition in the market. Without them the prices of all the other brands might be higher.

I have had local LEO's say the time from date of manufacture to their evidence locker is about 3 months. Your mileage may vary.

Made 100% in USA, Go bang every time (for me-I own the .45JHP), cheap as can be, super accurate, 100% warranty against anything, perfect truck gun.

Kinda like a not so pretty gal that's really good in the sack! :D
