I have the hi-point carbine in .45ACP. I love it. Great mountain and plinking gun, and hi point is an excellent company to do business with. This gun shoots TIGHT GROUPS at 25 yds...

I purchased the gun used for CHEAP. I fired it and it functioned fine. I sent it back to hi-point to have it checked over per a recommendation from a friend. They basically rebuilt the entire gun and sent it to me "as new in the box".. All I had to pay was shipping to get it there. They checked everything over, replaced some parts, sighted it in, etc. In the factory box was a new shoulder strap, instructions, test target and an extra free mag. They turned this around in 2 weeks door to door!

OK haters, go ahead and tell me how big of a plastic *** this gun is! I thought this myself until owning one.

I had one of these in 9mm which fired out of battery once. It ruptured the case and I got a faceful of hot gas. I wasn't injured because I had safety glasses on but once was enough for me. It's long gone.

I am on a fixed income. I own several nice hand guns but wanted something fun for plinking with or take the occasional small ferel hog on my friends farm. My two Smith's are chambered in 9mm so I wanted a carbine that could eat 9's. I bought the 995ts on the recommendation of my friend and LGS owner.

I put a Leupold 2x4x40mm red/green(keep your stick on the ice) reticle scope, Harris bi-pod and 4" barrel shroud.
It is a true blowback so as long as you don't use sub loads it will digest anything.

One of my mags needed its lips opened so I drove to BeeMiller in Springfield. The staff was eager to help. They fixed my mag while I waited (15 minutes) and gave me another for my trouble.

I really enjoy my Hi Point and shoot it often. I give high marks for CS. At the range, I'm often asked;"You like that thing?" I respond; "here, shoot it." Then comes; "You paid WHAT for this? I gotta get one!"

Just remember; "a pool shark can beat you with a broom handle."

I bought a 995TS when they first came out a few years ago. I had 1 FTF in the first month I owned it and that has been the extent of my troubles with the carbine. At 100yds I can keep my shots in a 6" paper plate, which is MOC (Minute of Coyote) in my neighborhood. The carbine gets a lot of use because everyone has fun shooting it.

I don't own one, but a friend does.

I own the Sub 2000 and we often trade off while shooting.

The 995 is ugly as sin, but it's been very reliable and seems to be as accurate as my Sub.

I've considered picking one up if I found the right deal.

I have a 9MM Highpoint Carbine and love it. Accurate enough to hit a bowling pin from the prone position at 100 yards. Cheap ammo, super reliable and fun to shoot.

As for magazines, the owners manual specifically mentions Promags as a "No GO", for some reason will void the warranty if used. Something about wearing the bolt or frame. So, only 10 round Highpoint magazines. They are cheap enough, I bought four in case I want to shoot the carbine in a Three gun Match or something like that.

YouTube has the answer

Is there any other brand of magazine besides Pro-Mag that fits these carbines?

There is a video out there that shows how to modify the body of a 1911 Mag to work. Get an extended one and you have as many shots as it holds

They're ugly enough to curdle Hoppe's, but I hear nothing but praise for them as reliable shooters that are a lot of fun.

I have no place to shoot one, but I wish I did.

I have an older one. It's quite accurate to 50 yards with a red dot scope. +P 124gr HPs make quite a crack when they leave the muzzle.:)

I had a 9mm carbine, I sold it because I had modded it and someone at work really liked it and made an offer I couldn't refuse. Did I like it. You bet. Out of the box it was accurate and really fun to shoot. Lifetime guarantee. Really. I hacked up some of the pieces of the stock, then called customer support to purchase new parts in case I wanted to restore it. They sent the parts under warranty. I told them I had done the damage on purpose, no problem, still covered by the warranty. That is service. Unfortunately the price has gone up since I bought mine and I cant bring myself to re-buy one at a higher price. Really a fun, accurate gun for the money, everyone had a blast shooting it. Enjoy! I had the one with the newer tech stock. I would like to get the original "Planet of the Apes" looking gun.

Speaking of mag capacity.... I have lots of 30 rounders for my AR, but the mags I use the most are the mil spec 10 and 20 rounders. The 30 is too long, it gets in the way, and I get bored after 10 anyway.

I don't compete, I just plink around.

I have 2 of the 995 Classics and a 4595TS. Great little carbines. One of the 995's is a truck gun with some extra mags. I have red dots on the other two. Don't be a snob, try one, you'll love it.

Fun cheap reliable and pretty accurate.
My 40 cal has been reliable and I've had not an issue with it.
Pretty NO

High tech NO

inexpensive to shoot YES

fun little gun YES

Haters gonna hate but most who hate on um have never fired one. For the money they are decent paper punchers.

My very first gun was a HiPoint Carbine 995. I bought it the day I turned 18. The guys at my local shop just laughed about how excited I was. It has fired every kind of ammo I could get my hands on without a problem and it's been 10 years now. It sure isn't the prettiest gun out there but it works and it's fun.

I bought one of the older 9mm ones used for $150.00 and ordered the newer stock, and magazine holder that holds an extra 2 mags for $80.00
It now sits by my bedroom door.
So I have 30 rounds of 9mm handy anytime I need it.
It's the one all my friends grab for first when we go out shooting!
It's a lot of fun to shoot, and never had problem one with it.
