After looking at the Hi-Power thread in the Lounge I got to thinking, will a newer Hi-Power run on Win 127gr +p+ Ranger T for SD. What say you.

I wouldn't

The BHP was never really made to handle +p+ loads and a sustained diet of them will probably end up cracking the frame and/or shearing off the barrel lug. If you are going to do this, at least put in a 20lb recoil spring which reduce some of the extra battering from the slide's reciprocation.

Here is a link to some of the best hi power information you can find.

Hi Powers and Handguns

The owner of the site Stephen Camp was one of the most respected authorities on the weapon and was a loss to the community last year when he passed away.

To the original question: I have a mk III practical range gun that I changed to the wolf 18.5 pound spring and shoot everything out of it without issue. One tough weapon that is well balanced and easy to hold on target. Of course I'm a fan of the old hi powers as well. :)

These are my WWII Hi Powers.

Very nice collection
Are any marked other than WaA 140?

The bottom one is Waa103 on both the weapon and rear spine of the magazine. Still need a Waa613. As you see them in the photo they are in order of production. The bottom is probably mid 41 while the other tangent is late 41. The next is a mid 42 production followed by the two top that are a and b serial numbered. The very top is a pristine 1944 that had to be captured within months of production and appears as new. They all work perfectly and have mint bores. The barrels in these where some of the best produced in that era.

This b series was produced around D day as close as I can tell.

There are a couple of excellent forums dedicated to the HP if you search the net.

I differ....I bought my HP in 1972. For years all I shot through it was SUPER VEL. Then thousands of milsurp and reloads.
They'll hold up........Probably better than those plastic staplers being used now.
