Hi & SW 38 Special--what do I have?

Hi,
I inherited some S&W revolvers from my Dad. Unfortunately I don't know enough to really understand what I have here. (I can shoot but am no expert on the guns themselves.) What's the best way to learn from you folks? Is there an area where newbies can get help with identification and specifics about a weapon? I took a few photos but don't know if this is the right spot on the forum so will wait to hear from folks.

So sorry for the loss of your father. Depending on how much you want to learn or how many guns you need to research, I would suggest the 4th edition of the Standard Catalog of Smith and Wesson, an excellent text written by two of our forum members.
