Hints of new M&Ps pistols coming...

I'm not surprised. In line with some of the comments in the "How did S&W lose the LE market" thread in the main forum.

Poly frame pistols are probably the wave of the future for most manufacturers. Personally, I like the 3G semis, but I can see from a manufacturing and profit margin standpoint that poly frame pistols are a better bet.

Besides, it's probably more cost effective to use those fancy CNC machines to make slides and barrels than it is to machine steel or alloy frames.

10mm version. Are you listening Smith?

I'd buy 2 today. A compact and full-sized.

I'd like to see S&W take the fight to Glock. The M&P line is a better looking pistol line than the Glock's, IMO. It's time to go for the throat as Glock did in the 80's and 90's.

I could see a market for a single stack sub-compact M&P. I would like to see a 10mm but I doubt there is much of a market for one. A Match Target M&P would be nice as well and with all the modding going on I'm there should be a market for a Match gun.

I wish Smith would seriously address the issues discussed here, introduce a G19 sized M&P, and basically introduce a next generation pistol that improves a pretty good gun.

Other than myself, my entire Department carries the Glock. Im sure Glock is an excellent weapon but im just not a big fan. I carry the S&W M&P .40FS and I love it. I would love to see S&W expand the M&P line just to see what they can come up with next.

Put me down as willing to run out and buy the first M&P 10mm to hit the shelves. As much as I love 10mm, I've contemplated buying a Glock 29 but just can't do it. I don't love Glocks the way I love the M&P line. I'll continue to pour my 10mm money into 3rd Gen S&Ws for now.

M&P 10mm

Put me down for an M&P 10mm. I actually own a Glock 29 and its my favorite Glock but I own 2 M&P's in 9mm and one in 10mm would be the balls.

If I were a betting man, I would wager that there will be a new single stack 9mm - and it will be based on the BG380 chassis. And I will not be interested in owning one.

The XDS will be a killer for SA

A small single stack 45

M&P needs a line in 9, 40, and 45

I wouldnt hold my breath on the 10MM

The 10mm cartridge cartridge is about dead. Probably will be a line of single stack 9mm and .40's, although I'd bet that they won't be as ergonomic as the double stack.

A 6.8 SPC M&P15 would be easy without much investment.

I would love to see just 1 full size all metal offering in the M&P line. I hate the feel of a polymer pistol in my hand and I think many people agree. Go back to the alloy frame like some of the 3rd gens. Heck, even use some new fancy alloy to help with the marketing.

10mm also has my vote. Would line up for one in a heartbeat. You can say what you want about the 10mm but it is still hanging around. Still see alot of G20 and G29 still being sold. Look at some of the highend 1911, especially the longslides. 10mm forever!
