A most beautiful suicide - 23 year old Evelyn McHale
leapt to her death from an observation deck (83rd floor)
of the Empire State Building, May 1, 1947. She landed
on a United Nations limousine…

I remember very well when the picture of the late Evelyn McHale ran in Life. Made quite an impact on me--I was about ten.

Some of them need captions to explain them. Waterfall out of 3rd story windows can't be good.

Life insisted it was not. Presumably the crush of the roof spread or cushioned the impact. I would have thought it would be much messier.
