Well...at least for now.
I wanted a 9mm pistol that I could carry in my pocket, and the HK CC9 seemed close. Yes, it was a little big to carry in my pocket, but I was determined to make it work.
Unfortunately, there was a lack of availability near me. Pure unobtanium. During this time, I saw the Bodyguard 2.0 and the changes that were made from the 1.0 version. What was even better was that it was immediately available. So I bought one. Normally I don't like a thumb safety on my pistols, but for pocket carry I decided that I wanted one. I'm comfortable with a cocked and locked 1911, so I didn't think this would be a problem. And it wasn't.
I've been impressed (so far) with the BG2. It fits my pockets - even the shallow ones - with a $25 DeSantis Nemesis. I'm currently going with the 10-round mag, while keeping the 12-round mag loaded with 11 rounds to work the spring a bit. I really don't like the sights. I'm a lefty, and the POI is a little right of the POA. I'm sure that I'll eventually replace the sights, but I can deal with it for now. The grip is perfect for my average-sized hands, and the recoil is easily manageable. I didn't find the slide difficult to rack, but the safety was a little tight. After watching a movie while working the safety, it loosened up a bit. And I don't feel like the step down from 9mm to .380 is a big deal for my specific purposes.
I understand that I haven't brought anything new to light about the little pistol. Everything that I've mentioned above has been posted here before. But I want to thank all the S&W forum members who posted their experiences with the BG2. You are the ones who unknowingly persuaded me to make the purchase. Previously, I had my CCL, but didn't always carry because of the weight and inconvenience. That's changed. Now every time I leave the house I do so with my Bodyguard. And that makes a difference.
Oh yeah...the good folks at HK shouldn't worry: I'll be picking up a CC9 in the near future.
