I am looking for recommendations for 22-250 loads using Hogdons CFE223 powder. Their website lists only one load, using a Speer 55 gr SP.

I have been loading Varget behind Nosler 55 gr. BT for a long time and am very satisfied with the accuracy, but have seen the advantage of the reduced copper fouling with the new powder. When going after Prairie Dogs this can be an advantage.

I know some guys will prolly tear me up here, but I use the same data for 55g SP and 55g BT. I started low and worked up. I am at work so don't have my exact numbers but that's what I did.

As long as the profile doesn't jam it into the lands, it's pretty safe to interchange same bullet weight data.

^^^ What he said. I see loads for bullets ranging from 40 to 70 grains using CFE-223 on the Hodgdon website. You are looking under the "Reloading Data Center", aren't you?

CFE223 not only keeps copper fouling to a minimum, but it appears to be one of the new high energy powders. Some of the loads being listed by Hodgdon for the .223 should be as fast in a 16" barrel as the older powders achieve in a 20" barrel.

Apparently it's a "superformance" powder by another name.
