Hogue 3rd gen grip question

5906 Hogue grips

I switched over to Hogue rubber grips from the stock Delrin grips. I've got big hands (XL glove size) and there's a noticeable width difference. Also, dependent on your personal application, you may need to trim the mag release. It does require a deliberate application to release the mag.BTW-I've built this 5906 as a combat pistol, so the rubber Hogues definitely add to 'printing'. I'm considering going over to Hogue checkered rosewood. Not real tactical, but they're thinner than the rubber models and thicker (by a tad) than the Delrins.
Just my humble $.02

I can't tell you for sure on a 59 series but on a 3913 single stack, it increases the width about an 1/8", from 1.060 to 1.180 depending on where you measure.

I really like the Hoge grips on my S&W Model 3913, but the Hogue Grips on my S&W Model 910S make it feel like a S&W Model 59, a feel which I never have liked.

I purchased the Uncle Mike's Grips for my S&W Model 910S which I understand are not as wide as the Hogue grips. Should have them sometime next week and I will know if they are a better fit for me.

i like the Hogues on my 4003......they are a bit fat , but handle the recoil very well. The stock grips don`t feel so great after the 4th magazine.

I can certainly imagine a beer can framed .40 isn't a whole lot of fun after the 4th mag, compared to an anvil framed 9.
It is a bit "snappier" than a 9.

I can say the Hogues do feel a good bit thicker on a 5906 than the factory grip.
I have size L/XL hands with medium length fingers.

The Hogues feel better, to me, on the .45 than onn the 9.
The factory grip feels better on the 9 than the .45.

YMMV

First of all my hands are medium in size and I do like the feel of the factory stocks on my 5906. However, I do have Hogues on my 4506 and 4006. What I like about them is that they fill the "gap" between the stock panel and my palm and the end result is a much better finger placement on the trigger (for me). Before the Hogues I was having to think too much about where my finger was. Now it feels very comfortable and natural. Also the Hogues significantly improved my accuracy on the 4506.

Not sure about the 4006 because it came with Hogues and I've only had it to the range twice. Plus I'm working on a failure to feed issue on the last round in the magazine. New mag springs go in today.

I can't compare the double stacks, but the single stacks look like this.
The 2 in the middle are my CS9 with and without the Hogue grips.

Hope this helps.

I prefer large grips on my revolvers. All have target grips on them. My 5906 came to me w/ Hogue Grip. I got a used factory grip from a fellow member. Like, and shoot it better now. Bob
