These are temporarily on my 686. The garbage can is their next home.

These are Hogue Monogrips. Are they all this bad or are these an exception to the rule.

I really like the Pachmayr Presentation grips I have for my 28.2. I'll be getting a set for my 686 too.

All my shooters wear Hogue's. Where did you get those ones?

They were on the gun when I got it. I replaced them with the original Target stocks but put these back on to shoot it today.

They actually look more like N frame grips on your revolver....All Hogue Monogrips I have ever dealt with fit very well and to me are very comfortable.
I would see how they fit on your 28-2.....tossing them away seems rash.

Those look like N frame square butt grips. I've also found that over tightening the bottom screw will cause them to warp out of shape. I always cinch mine down and back off a whole turn.

I agree that something doesn't look right with those grips. They shouldn't go over the bottom corner of the gun.

If rubbers are what is wanted, Uncle Mike's are the best.

This:

You over tightened the screw. The sides of all rubber Monogrips will bulge out if you over tighten the screw. The designed torque is barley snug. Despite that I've not had the screw back out noticeably.

Love the look of wood but if I'm planning a full range day I dress mine in rubber every time.
I agree with other folks, you may have them a little tight.

the monogrips only find a home on my Xframe.
All the others live in a shoebox in my garage

I know grips are a very personal thing and we all likes what we likes for different reasons.
I have Monogrips on every Smith I own except my 6-1 snub. I just like the look of the stock magnas too much to take them off.
The Mono’s adorn all my big bore N frames and my L frames as well.
I have small hands and they afford me the most comfortable grip of everything I have tried. They do very well with heavier loads in my 4” 629-4 and
From what I have seen, people with larger hands tend to like the Pachmeyers better.

Send them back to Hogue along with the photos. They will make it right! Great customer service.

Ya, normally I'd keep my trap shut but wanted to step in with some good words for Hogue grips. Have quite a few and all are excellent. Also, Hogue has been super good about sending replacement hardware at no cost (when I lose it) and talking me through grip install issues (Colt D Frame) on the phone. I've seen nothing but excellent product and customer service.

Those are the grips on mine also. They're actually too small for me. They put my finger too far into the trigger for an instinctive grip. I need better grips. And yeah, if tightened too much they bulge.

I will loosen the screw and see. They do seem a bit small too.

Thanks for all your replies.

They look to be a square butt grip on a round butt frame. All the Hogue grips I have used on my Smiths revolvers have fit quite well.

This is what a set of Hogue Monogrips looks like on my Model 66 which is the same grip frame.

Hope that helps you out.....
