Hogue Handall Jr on the Shield

No one mentioned the magic install way for those hogue handalls... Very well known on all the forums...

The SHield is small, so it may not be that hard to install..

However, in general, the best way is to boil water.

Once boiling, throw the handall into the boiling water for 1 minute. Remove with tongs and throw it on a towel. Wipe off all the water quickly, and then grab it and start installing.

The heat makes it stretch (it will just be warm to the touch once you get all the water off of it).

Once installed, it will shrink as it cools, and then it shouldn't move.

It will move, it moved in all 3 of my guns, 2 shields and one Bersa, right after my fist cleanup. Hogue sells a stick kit to prevent this which consist of golf club grip tape and waterbase solvent.

Well, I've done many guns this way - and not a single one ever moved over the years

I dont know what to say brother. it moved in both of my shields, more than the Bersa, I wonder if it has anything to do with the polymer handle just not grabbing.
I would be at the range and the grooves would go sideways after a while

I have seen more than one utube video where, in slow motion, the gun can be seen twisting in the hand. This just happens with some shooters and I doubt anyone would be aware of it without seeing it on video. All in the grip. That would certainly explain twisting of the Hogue grip.

Well, I have never used the junior version... Only the regular version on large polymer guns.

On my Shield, I just use the innertube piece, as in the pic I posted above. 16" bicycle innertube from Walmart.

Went out today. 200 rounds on each Shield and it stayed in place, unlike then other times. Handall Jr does not have as much grabbing surface as the standard. that could have been it!!
