Hogue Handall Shield Plus

I am considering this, but I wonder if the 45 shield version would work better for the 9mm Plus.

Has anyone tried the HandAll on the Plus?

I put one on my Shield Plus. It was the same style I put on my Gen 1 Shield 9mm. It was a bit more of a challenge, but I got it done. Following the instructions will help. I'm not sure I like it on my Shield Plus. It makes the grip a bit wider than the grip on my full size M&P9 2.0. It was perfect on my Gen 1 Shield.

I finally got around to installing the Hand-All for the Shield Plus. It was very difficult until I used shims. I bought the 9mm Hand-All not 45.

At first I did the windex and warm up method with no luck. I could get it on about a quarter inch and no more. It actually kept slipping off every time I tried to move it further. I tried for a while until my fingers were to week to go on. So I warmed it up and slipped on to a 3c Maglite to stretch it for a while. Even that was hard.

Then I heated water in a coffee cup via the microwave and put it in that. I cut some plastic strips from the package to use. With the hot water I was able to get it on about a 1/2" Then I slide the plastic in with Windex on the plastic (picture 1). The next 1/2 inch was still hard but doable. Then it slipped right on. The plastic slipped out easily.

LOL, your experience was very similar to mine in installing a Hogue grip on my Shield 45. It was hard, but on the plus side, I ended up with a good hour's aerobic workout and a superb grip on my Shield. It fills my large hands better than the factory grip and helps to absorb recoil. And it will never, ever slip. It's a great product and well worth the effort to install it.

To bad S&W did not put removable palm swells on the Shield. At least the plus model since it costs more.

I've dumped my Handall's and gone to Talon grips. I use the rubbery ones, not the ones that are like skate board tape. It's all subjective but after trying the Talons, I found the Handall's a little too thick.

I've already ordered some Talons for my Shield Plus. I've got Hogues on some other pistols, but I figured that sandpaper type grip on the Shield would make it really difficult to slip Hogues onto.

I personally like the Hogue JR.

Use the famous internet gun forum method for install... I have done this over a dozen times on various guns...

Boil a pot of water. Once it is boiling - put the Hogue in there for 60 seconds. I use a spoon to hold it down so it doesn't float, but don't hold it along the sides or bottom the entire time (just under the surface).

After 60 seconds - remove and dry. And install. The Hogue stretches when hot. When it cools, it will shrink up a bit. This method works great so it's not too loose after installed. I have installed them without the hot water before. And sometimes they slide around to much when installed.

I have a gen 1 shield 9.

I also have a 2.0 9C.

The gen1 shield is a bit w and a bit narrow. I never noticed that until I started shooting the 9c.

I am thinking about the Houge handall for my gen1 shield to help both enhance the “grippiness” (for lack of a better word) as well as making the grip seem fuller and a bit more consistent with the 9c in terms of grip width.

Does this make sense? Or will I be disappointed?

I am trying to set up both my shield and 9c to be as similar as possible. This includes changing both to identical sights.

I love the 9c but sometimes the weight of carry and additional thickness is just too much in certain instances.
