Holster for M&P 9mm Shield

I have the box of holsters, not sure there is 25 yet, but really close. I tried the Alien Gear tuck 3, and just could not use it. I tried to sell it, but finally gave it away. To each his own.

Have a blessed day,

Leon

Holsters are a real trial and error endeavor. If your like most people you'll wind up with a drawer full of holsters before you find one you can live with. I bought a number of the big names. Used afew days then decided this isn't the one. Good luck.

Holster for M&P 9mm Shield

I have an Alien Gear and don’t like it. It’s big, bulky, rides too high (yes, it’s adjusted) and IMO doesn’t conceal well.
I almost ordered a Vedder but the cost prevented me so I went with a cheaper option and have been pretty happy with it. I have been using a Sticky Holster. Sticky Holsters - The Best Concealed Carry Holster
The thing I like about it is I can put whatever cant I want on it, place it as high or low as I want and wear at any position I feel. The thing I don’t like is there is no retention but I am not doing FBI Backflips and has never been an issue. The do make a kydex lined Sticky holster which would take care of that if it’s an issue for you.
The other think I forgot to mention is how easy it is to take in and out. When I get in my car I take it out of my waistband and it sits nice and easily accessible between my seat and center counsel.

I’m a huge fan Lobo Gunleather’s Offset Belt Clip. Easy to take off and put on. Holds the gun close without added bulk.

I've come to the conclusion that holsters are like women... it comes down to individual taste and you may have to spend a bunch of money on a lot of them before you find the right one.

I'm a small framed guy, 5'7" and 150lbs, the two part leather and Kydex holsters are way too bulky for me. Feels like I have a barn door attached to my hip. I also reside in the south so large slabs of cow or horse hide against my skin tend to be hot and sweaty in the summer.

I find minimalist Kydex holsters work best for me. I recently ordered a "We the People Holster" for my full sized M&P and am very pleased. I found it difficult to comfortably conceal a full sized pistol all day until I found this holster. Cant, ride height and retention are all adjustable. They are lite weight and not bulky at all. They are made in the USA, come with a lifetime warranty and are very reasonably priced. Oh, and you can get them in some interesting prints if you are into that kind of thing. I went with their carbon fiber pattern.

I'm a small framed guy, 6'7" and 150lbs.

I agree with the first part.
Cannot comprehend the second.

LOL, my bad, what I meant to type was 5'7" and 150lbs. If I was 6'7" and 150lbs I could wear an American flag ball cap and you would have to salute me when they play the national anthem.

I carry AIWB and have tried way too many holsters before finding JM Custom Kydex to work best for me. Vedder Light Tuck also works pretty good for me.
As stated by others, what works for you is no doubt an individual decision and often trial and error. Wish I had a dollar back for every one that did not work for me.

I have a Dara IWB for my Shield and a JM Custom Kydex IWB for my Glock. I think both are well made.

I guess I’m what you would call a short fat guy - 6’5” 180 lbs.

Do you carry appendix, 4 o’clock, or what?

Holster are person preference just like firearms.

I have only purchased a few holsters for my MP Shield. Here are the holsters I have and a quick opinion.

Wilson Combat LoProfile II Holster - this is one of my favorite holsters to date. I know it’s not inexpensive, I’m not usually the type to spend over $50 on a holster, and it’s not IWB, it is high ride and hides well under long shirts. Despite those facts this holster is fantastic. It sits high enough that if your shirt was to come up and show the gun with this holster it would with an IWB holster as well. It sits tight to the body and is very comfortable. Worth every penny. This is one of my favorite holsters for sure. Very well build. My favorite part is how the belt slide through the holes. Very cool.

Desantis Dual Carry II - if your looking for a IWB retention holster this is worth a look.

DeSantis SofTuck Holster - very similar to the Dual Carry but no retention. I don’t like the clip that comes with this holster so I replaced it with the same one that comes with the Dual Carry.

Concealed Carry LLC - This is just an inexpensive plastic holster you can buy on Amazon. I like it. You probably would also. Veteran owned. I actually pulled the clip off, put some Velcro on one side and use it for off body carry in my shoulder bag. I plan to buy another to use IWB.

I find both DeSantis holsters very comfortable, hide the firearm well, draw very quick, and have adjustable cant.

I also have a holster for my Kahr CW9 that is just a cover for trigger guard with a clip. This style is great for hot weather since it is very low profile. I plan to get one for my Shield soon.

I tried an Alien Gear IWB pancake highbreed and it was comfortable but very large and printed. Not for my body type. But very high quality.

But I will tell you the same as others, holsters are personal preference and trial and error. My recommendation is buy from places that you can return after you try. For me I can tell pretty quick if the holster will work or not.

Good luck.

I've been carrying my Shield 9 in a Remora IWB since I bought the gun. It took me awhile before I realized it wasn't going to fall out of my pants but it hasn't for the last couple of years. Some will say they have not had the same experience.

Remora works for me too

I don't see any Wilson Combat branded holsters on their website. Where did you find it?

3 0'clock, high ride, FBI cant (butt forward) hides best for me with a full sized weapon and is most comfortable. If I move it too far forward it pokes me in the groin and digs into my belly when I sit down. Too far to the rear and I sit on the barrel forcing the beaver tail into the bottom of my rib cage. Vertical or rearward tilt makes the butt of the gun stick way out behind me.
