In case any one is looking for a suggestion for a holster for their M&P9 Shield, PJ Holster (Smith & Wesson M&P Shield | PJ Holster LLC) can now mold one.
I have one of their IWB holsters with the J-hook for my Kahr MK9 and like it quite a bit.
The MK9 weighs about 23 oz. plus the weight of a full magazine, but yet I find the holster to be well balanced on the single-point attachment. The kydex is also a little thinner which helps to minimize the 'bulk' as it is.
Paul has an excellent reputation on some other gun forums (Kahrtalk and elsiepeaforum for example) and is highly regarded for providing a well made product at a reasonable price, and has top notch customer service. Not 100% sure, but I believe he can also customize the holster for you, with respect to ride height, cant angle, etc.
