I currently have a simple iwb JBP ambitexeriois belt slide holster for my Sheild. I am looking to upgrade and get a better holster.

I have a friend that has an Alien Gear cloak tuck 2.0 and raves about it.

Has anyone tried one of these?

At the hunt club while bow hunting I always owb carry.

For EDC which will be most of the time I will need to IWB.

I have no personal experience with this company, but I'm starting to hear good things about On Your 6 holsters and mag holders. Their products seem very reasonably priced.

I'm also not a Kydex fan, but their holsters seem well designed and you have choices. Most of their holsters offer adjustable cant (which I like a lot) and you can get your holster for different belt widths.

So you might take a look at them.

I cancelled my order for an Alian Gear holster after waiting a month a a couple of weeks. I did this after I visited their Facebook page and seen dozens of other people complaining who claimed to have placed an order before me. On top of that, I hear the retention is c-rap...

Bianchi Allusion™ Model 135 Suppression™

I use the Bianchi Allusion™ Model 135 Suppression™.

  • Very comfortable holster
  • Easy to get a full grip on the draw stroke
  • Re-holster one handed
  • Belt c-clips are very inconspicuous (unlike some that are huge and have emblems on them)
  • Mesh covered foam backing is very comfortable even in hot weather.
  • Tuck-able
  • Reasonably priced, around $50

Do a regular google search for "Alien Gear Cloak Tuck" and you'll find a few negative reviews about the cloak tuck. Alien Gear (aka oldfaithful holsters) in itself has a pretty good reputation (besides the usual 'wait time' complaints). When they were lesser known, turnout time was very quick, but once they got more well known as a Crossbreed alternative, as popularity grew, so did their wait time.

Personally, I don't go for holsters that are made to order (have a wait time), so the first place I check is the Crossbreed Seconds site. Unlike the 'Regular' Crossbreed site, No waiting, usually Half Price and (normally) one needs a magnifying glass to actually find the blemish.

Good quality Belts too.

I'm WAITING(???) to love my Alien Gear IWB holster for my Shield 9 and my Glock 23. About 7 weeks now and that's UNACCEPTABLE!!!

Have you contacted the Alien Gear people? If not, why not? If so, what did they tell you?

But I kinda have to agree with you about the long wait time. Seven weeks is too long to wait for what's basically two pieces of plastic that's probably already pre-manufactured and waiting on the shelf to be shipped.

But that applies to any Kydex maker. The holsters are probably just parts in bins, waiting to be screwed together, have the edges polished, then packaged, packed, and shipped. Unless a company has maybe a backlog of thousands of orders , I'd say five to ten business days should be ample time to deliver the goods to a customer.

FOXX, similar to CBST and other Kydex manufacturers has a quick turnaround time (at least they used to). I have several of their products for my Shield. The only thing I don't like, not necessarily related to FOXX (since most Kydex makers use 'em), are the metal clips. The bottom of the clips, that sticks out/away from the body, tends to make small holes in clothes over time.

Watchdog,
I have not contacted them but they send me a "we haven't forgotten you...........thanks for your patience...." e-mail about every two weeks.
They also "ensure" me that they appreciate my bsiness. All that for what it's worth.

Thanks guys. A few companies that I have not heard of on the lists above. Not good to hear that Alien Gear is this far behind with their orders.

I'm a holster maker and... no.

Kydex does not just magically get molded to the shape of a gun in each choice of color, cant, side carried etc etc, then cut and shaped, drilled, put together, the fit checked.

Alien Gear is a big name so 7 weeks + seems pretty excessive. I think most around four. I'm at two but I'm a small shop and mainly go off word of mouth.

I have an iwb, tuckable, with a single adjustable clip that came from mccabes custom leather. I love the holster, however it took a long time to get, like 9 months. but like I said, I love the holster.
I have a kydex 2 clip one like you and others have shown. I found it would cause my boxers to ride up. the single clip one seems to take up less space.

Shield Holsters REMORA

I tried a few before I found the Remora holsters. I have one now for my 642 and my Shield.
Because it is not restricted on location or cant, I can put it anywhere I need based on my clothing choice.
It is the most comfortable and secure holster I have. The weapon never moves and is easy to draw and replace. But with no hooks or clips or clasps, it gives me the freedom I wanted in an IWB holster.

Plus they are reasonably priced and the owner is a very customer oriented person.

I had both the Foxx hybrid & Little Foxx for my SD9VE but sold them with that firearm. Went out and got the shield and immediately ordered the same two holsters for my new EDC. I ordered them on Friday and expect them by no later than Thursday.

I upgrade to the kydex clips ($6.50) which is what I did before and they work very well. In short, I wore one or the other for the better part of 3 1/2 years basically everyday and the quality was tremendous. $39 shipped (before the upgraded clips) is a great deal.

Foxx Trapp for me. Extended slide guard, upgraded clip. Best thing out there.

I also bought their grip enhancement for the Shield. Similar to talon grips but not quite as aggressive.
