Holster ID & questions?

Ok I picked this up a month or so ago.

I'm assuming it was possibly issued to an Military Police?

What would be the approximate age of this and what revolver would have accompanied it?

Was it made by the US Government or just used by a service member?

It doesn't appear to have been used much.

My guess would be a half-flap for a Victory Model S&W. It is a Model 10
with 4 inch barrel . If you have one you can try it. Sent a lot of them to
Britain on the lend lease plan in WWII.

I will have to differ with Crazy Phil on his statement about Lend Lease. The UK did not use 4 inch .38 Special revolvers as standard weapons in WW2 when the Lend Lease program was underway. The UK and other members of the Empire were using 5 inch S&W Victory revolvers in .38-200, along with the Enfield series of .38-200 revolvers. The holsters for those guns were typically made of woven fabric of the Pattern 37 type.

I knew the Victory used by the British was 5" barrel, I just did
not want to complicate the answer any more than necessary.

Contract mfg to US military specs, issued in 1960s mostly to fixed wing, rotary pilots and flight crews for 4" Smith and Colt 38s.

Well I just happen to have a 10-5 4" RB that shipped in 1970.
