I know some on this forum make holsters for their own guns. I would like to try my hand at doing this. Besides Tandy Leather where can I buy tools and leather? I feel pretty sure a lot of holster makers don't buy their supplies at Tandys or am I wrong? Don

Tandy's is the place I go. Its quick and easy and the tools are of good quality. For further information on supplies try leatherworker.net. Interesting place with all kinds of good info.

I have 3 places I go to get leather supplies. Tandy, Leather unlimited and Crazy Crow. I make and sell custom holsters and sometimes I get a request for some beadwork or other decoration to "Indian it up."
For wet molded holsters I use a Blue gun. That way I don't worry about shoving a real gun into a hunk of wet leather. A real gun could be wrapped in a plastic bag but I'm more comfortable using a plastic replica when I can. For Those I go to Midway.
Leatherworker.net does have a lot of helpful info.

I get most my stuff from the local Tandy store. I've gotten a few things from a small leather shop that's run by two brothers but they don't have near as much inventory as Tandy.

Thanks guys those are some good links you gave me. Here is a link I found on how to make holsters. He has 6 or 7 videos that are really good. Some of you guys might learn from them. Don

Thanks for the link. I like the airbrush idea, that'd give more even coverage of the dye. Black's covers well but brown can get a little blotchy.
Also, I use utility scissors to cut my leather, an antler for hand boning and edge burnishing and I do my stitching with a stitching awl.

I got most of my gear from a saddle shop and a boot repair shop in a nearby town. Most of it is Tandy.
