Holster Review: The Treadstone from Overwatch Holsters

Paddle mount?

Can you make them with a paddle mount? I like the mount on my Fobus Roto Paddle Holster but the holster itself is too bulky and heavy. I have been looking for a good light weight Kydex adjustable cant holster with a paddle mount for right hand carry.

Got mine in the mail today. I took a few pictures. This in the first kydex holster I've owned, and I like it much better than the leather holsters. My leather IWB clip holsters are much thicker than the kydex holster. The profile is very thin and comfortable.

As you can see from the pics, the sweat guard runs along the entire slide, and for the most part, the only part gun that sticks out is from the handle on up... The retention is tight and firm. The gun will not fall out while doing normal everyday activities.

Not trying to rain on this plastic parade, but it seems to me there are about 100 different companies/outfits out there making the same four basic holsters - and more new players with strange names popping up everyday.

The market will eventually thin this bloated heard, but in the mean time I will stick to tried-and-true, established names I know.

I rather buy from the mom and pop outfits of the internet if they make quality products. I have no problem sticking with a lesser known instead of over paying, IMHO, to buy the "same four basic holsters" from an established name with a ridiculous wait time. Most of them have an "established name" because they charge us extra to pay for banners, ads, vender memberships, and fancy web sites to establish their name.

Also, even though the basic design of all these holsters are the same, there still are differences between them, and last, just about all holsters now days come with a money back guaranty...

To me, quality and price is more important than an "established name."

Great pics. Got the same one in tan headed my way, hopefully soon. Found out my Shield 9 shipped today also. Man, I wish it wasn't Sunday in two days! Gonna be a long day staring at an empty mailbox!

Will the MP9 model Treadstone also fit a S&W SD9?

I just did a little research ending with this thread here:

http://smith-wessonforum.com/smith-...4268-m-p-sd-sigma-all-3-fit-same-holster.html

It appears part of the pistol has the same dimensions, but I very much doubt it will fit in a Kydex holster molded directly from the gun unless it was very minimalist indeed.

So, I don't think so. Maybe someone could correct me on this, but i don't think so I'm afraid.

It'll be a project, but i think so. I actually have a SERPA paddle sitting here I have been toying with trying when I get time. I can actually get hold of the Blade-Tech adjustable paddles.

Drop me a line and perhaps I can make a project and get a new line of holsters going. I can look into added retention as well.

I feel that. Nothing like waiting for new stuff to arrive!

Dear Dull, if you really don't want to rain on a parade, don't post.

I like the way you trim the hydex. Very functional and elegant. My current IWB kydex doesn't have a sweatguard, which bothers me a lot. However, I do like the fact that the belt clip is the tuckable variety. I just prefer to tuck in my shirt. It's more comfortable on hot&humid summer days. Do you offer a version that is tuckable? Your Blackstone belt loop clip looks like it might be, but I am not sure.

BTW, why is it called Blackstone?

Thanks for noticing the way I do the shape, I don't actually cut the final shape... I have a more fluid approach. It means each holster comes out a little different but no corners anywhere near where skin may be.

Anyway, tuckable is something I am trying to find a strong and convenient solution for smaller guns. The Blackstone is indeed tuckable, but the strut is to long for anything small... hence the smallest gun option right now is for a G19.

The Blackstone works particularly well for appendix and at 4/5 o'clock on people that are up and down a lot as it floats a little more on the waist than the Treadstone without wandering.

Now, Blackstone...

Sir William Blackstone was an English jurist, judge and politician in the eighteenth century. He is most noted for writing the "Commentaries on the Laws of England". In short, he put common law, which is the basis of American law, into words that could be understood by most and taught from.

The Commentaries influenced John Marshall, James Wilson, John Jay, John Adams, James Kent and Abraham Lincoln, and remain frequently cited in Supreme Court decisions.

He was dominant influence on the drafters of the original Constitution and its Bill of Rights and most identifiably the 2nd Ammendment:

"these absolute rights being protected by the individual's right to have and use arms for self-preservation and defense."

He pointed out individual citizens were therefore entitled to exercise their "natural right of resistance and self-preservation, when the sanctions of society and laws are found insufficient to restrain the violence of oppression".

I was born and raised in England and have an English accent... it bothers me no end that the UK deliberately ignores a natural right... and a man that was of an incredible mind who if listened to, a lot of problems would be avoided today.

topping this thread again to say that I received my holster, and I am really impressed. it is the same as the one pictured in the post by Well Armed, but in the coyote tan. the fit, finish, really everything about this holster is superb. retention is great, with a positive "click" as the gun is holstered. it's the perfect size, completely covering the trigger guard, without a scrap of unneeded material. Ian has really got things down pat with this holster for the Shield. I will post pictures later, but it truly disappears with IWB carry.

thanks, Ian, for a great holster!
