I have two of these Triple K #440 Lightning Strong Side/Crossdraw holsters. One is for my N-frame 625-9 "Mountain Gun" and the other for my J-frame 34-1 "Kit Gun." I like both of these quality holsters since I can wear either strong side or cross draw.

If you are looking for a shoulder holster for the 629, check out Craft Holsters. They made one for my N frames snubbies but it has an open end and my 629 6.5" fits in it well. It tilts forward when you draw. Might even be the same model number for your 19. My 6" Python has the same model number for that holster.

My 2 favorites are Tauris Holsters, made by Mike Taurisano of New Hartford, NY.

Making a holster is NOT as easy as it may seem. Lot's of mistakes etc, but that's how you learn. I still have my first piece of leather I made for my SASS competition rifle, and holster.

It's a tension adjustment screw. It was an add-on option when I ordered the holster.

Holsters are very much purpose driven....... hunting, concealed carry, woods bumming, law enforcement.......auto vs. revolver.
My favorite varies..... concealed carry I favor IWB Milt Sparks
Summer woods bumming...... a Bianchi 111 Cyclone cross draw or classic 5BHL thumb-brake...... Winter I'd opt for a X15 vertical shoulder holster.

I have several Lobo Gun Leather holsters, some made by the former owner and one by the current owner. Here is a 4" Model 686 in a Lobo Tom Threepersons style holster. A K-frame gun also fits with just the slightest looseness.
I much prefer a safety strap over a thumb break as it is a lot easier to reholster the gun with a strap. Additionally, the strap can be removed completely (it snaps onto the back of the holster) if you are shooting in a match or for some other reason don't want the strap in place.
I also recommend getting lined holsters as they are much easier on bluing and don't polish the satin finish of S&W stainless steel as quickly. All my Lobo holsters have their smooth leather lining.
Visit Lobo's website and you'll be impressed with the variety offered. Current ownership also is very customer-friendly.

For those around 4" or less, I like the pancake style holsters that kick the butt forward a bit. For the longer ones I like something with a big folded over loop so that when I get in a truck I can have it go along beside my leg and the butt isn't against the seat back.
I have a big box on top of my handgun safe with lots of holsters and just pick one that fits the gun and the occasion. Lots of pawn shops, gun shows and gun shops have a bunch of used holsters to chose from often for less than $20 a piece. I look through them and if L find something decent that fits some of my guns I will get it. The only ones I really went out of my way to get just what I wanted are the ones for my CC guns. Oh, and my 8 3/8" scoped 500 mag
My 1911 rig and my gun belt are from LOBO and they make an excellent hostler and belt.
