Home clothes washer testimony's?

Also got a top load no impeller Whirlpool from Lowe's.
It's got the inner tub with a bunch of holes and it really spins out the water.
I must be happy, cause I don't recall being unhappy!

Anyway...anyone bought a new top load washer recently and if so, any thoughts on it?

I've had my Samsung 5.1cf for about a year now. So far I like it. It gobbles up my big California King bedspread with room to spare. Works fine.

It replaced a Whirlpool Calypso that lived down to every internet horror story that's out there.

Give it time

Buy a used Maytag, Speed queen or a really old Whirlpool. All easy to repair and no electronics that don't get along with moisture. I would stay away from the LG's and Samsung's from what my peers say about them. GE not much better. To who ever said 3 year warranty, who, where?

When my Maytag top loader from 1982 died in 2017 I bought another from that era for $100.00. It developed a water leak last week but it was just a loose hose. If I can get another 35 yrs. service from it I'll be happy. (Who wants to go washer shopping when you're 103?)

My Maytag dryer from 1982 stopped drying last month - loose wire - re crimped and it's working fine.
It does help that neither my wife nor I care about fancy washers and dryers and that I (with help from YouTube) can fix about any problem that comes along on these older simple machines. The parts are still available.
When I disposed of my 1982 washer due to a transmission failure I kept all the other parts because they fit my "newer" washer.

I've had a small construction company for decades and deal with a lot of appliances. Most of the appliance reps and the repairmen will tell you the same thing, a Whirlpool or Kenmore top load, with 2 or 3 speeds and 2 or 3 temperature settings are all you need. The machines that have lots of settings and digital and audio features are less reliable and a lot more expensive to repair and all the additional settings are really no benefit at all. Top load machines use a little more water but will get your clothes cleaner than front loaders. Naturally we instead bought what my wife wanted, Samsung high dollar metallic gray digital machines with tons of features and sing annoying little songs when the laundry is finished washing or drying, they work fine so far but are LOUD.

A friend works a phone line for GE appliance service. She says she will not have a GE appliance after hearing all the problems people are having with them. I believe Haier bought out GE appliance now.
I have a Haier dryer and I hate it compared to my old Whirlpool that lasted 30 years. Funny how so many appliance sales people tell buyers don't expect 30 years out of any new appliance. I have heard if you get 5 years out of a new appliance then you did good. New appliances seem to be made with cheap materials now. Two neighbors have those new style washers sitting out in their yards. Expensive junk now.

I also have heard Speed Queen is about the best now. Probably why they are so expensive. They are about all you see used in commercial laundry. I guess we should learn from that.

My wife just loves her Maytag Washer and Dryer. We've had many different brands during our married life but she says the Maytag is the best one we have ever had. Happy wife = happy life!

Twenty-five years ago, I walked into an appliance store (not a big box store), and told the salesman, "Show me the cheapest washing machine you have."

He led me to a plain white top-loading Whirlpool, priced at around $350 or so...less than $400 for sure.

So here I am in 2018, and that washer is still going strong. Only thing I've ever replaced on it is the drain hose. I think it's on its third one. Energy efficient? Who knows?

Testimony? It's still working and still getting my clothes clean. What else you want?

I have fairly old Kenmore washer and driers.

About a year ago the washer developed a problem. A friend of mine was a Sears Appliance repair man and he came over and fixed it for me. Ended up being something stuck in the pump.

I told him I was considering buying new ones because these are fairly old and he told me to get that thought right out of my mind.

He told me all the new ones are junk. The electronics are a nightmare and very high failure items.

Mine are old simple and dependable and very inexpensive to repair.

One of my daughters bought new HUGE Whirlpools, I think the washer hols like 8 loads - her kids hide inside it when they play hide and seek. They have been trouble free for her.

Another friend that lives in CA has had nothing but nightmares with her Whirlpool machines.

I have no idea what I would buy today if i had to buy new machines.

Good luck with whatever you end up with.

Speed Queen TR5. Not cheap but does the job wonderfully. Has metal gears and is heavy duty. I got it this past June and am VERY happy with it. I do NOT use the auto fill but manually set it for how much clothes I wash. That way I get plenty of water. Let me repeat, I am VERY happy with it. My last washer was an 18 year old Kenmore Series 80 HD that gave up the ghost and I looked long and hard before I bought new. Apparently the hi effficiency models have a lot of issues as they don't use enough water to clean the clothes. This Speed Queen just took off where the Kenmore left and I have noticed no drop off in performance.

After buying a new GE, the pump failed under warranty. The repair guy said my jeans were too dirty. It weighs the load, and then adds the water. Locks the lid. Got rid of that and bought Speed Queens. Just like the washer and dryer I grew up with, best set we've had.

I've been buying New Reconditioned washers & Dryers from a guy that buys the returns from stores at a auction in Pittsburg.
They are for rental units so I just buy top loaders. I don't pick
out any certain brand, he just brings me one. The models with
the least bells & whistles seem to last longer. The ones that cause
me the worst grief are the computerized ones that lock the lids.
Old lady's hate them and their is a part called a actuator that
seems to go out in about a year.

Washer

I've had a top loading Kenmore for 21 years now and no problems. If I ever start having problems with it, I will get it repaired if possible. When I bought this one, Whirlpool actually made the Kenmore brand names, not sure if they still do or not
