Anybody have any home remedies they wish to share?

My aunt Lois (by marriage; aka Witchy-poo) gave me some home remedy advice about my warts I had on both hands when I was but a wee lad. She told me to apply milkweed juice to the warts and let the juice dry. I did this for about 2 weeks, and the warts all disappeared.

I didn't even have to twirl a dead cat three times over my head, while standing on one leg. :D

Anyone else have a proven home remedy?

I think twirling a dead cat is a felony in some states. Just sayin'....

Dry the root of the mallow weed and make a tea for diarrhea. It is a quick cure that re-hydrates you.

Grandpa & Dad used kerosene on
cuts as a antiseptic....stung for a bit, but
healed quick and never got sore.

Yep kerosene or coal oil. Grandmother would pull a cut that needed stiches together, Great Aunt would harvest a spider web between two index fingers and place on wound. That was alright with me and held just like stiches

Turpentine was favored and some cough meds have creosote in them. When he was young my FIL hacked his toe and part of his foot nearly off with an axe. His grandmother, (a reputed witch) took care of it with her methods and it grew back together and all that was left was a little scar. She had a good reputation as a 'healer'.

I was told that my acne was caused by 'bad blood'.

The best thing for diarrhea in those days was a spoon of paregoric. Too bad it was an opiate because it helped coughs and pains besides putting a cork in your rear end. You used to be able to walk right in to the drugstore and buy it, then things started getting tougher.

We have something here on the barrier islands called 'root' medicine, which is a variation on voodoo and people still believe in it and use it. In fact, my psychiatrist kept a woman from dying by giving her a root cure. No other doctor could do anything with her. After he did his incantations sitting on the rug with the dark glasses he gave her some pyridium pills and told her that when her pee turned orange she would be cured. It worked. If you want to curse someone you get a root doctor to 'chew the root' on them. Just make sure that you do it before they 'chew the root' on YOU first.

PS There was a sheriff in the next county that was famous for dealing with islanders by using root medicine as part of his law enforcement toolbox. He even wrote a book about it. Later he wrote another book that made me think that he actually believed and practiced it.

Boil up some tomato leaves... pour off the water and put it on poison ivy..stings a bit but keep doing it for a couple days..or less. Dries it right up. BTW. don't drink it as it is poisonous..tomatos are related to nightshade somewhat. Nightshade works better but not many know what it looks like

Vicks vapo rub for toenail fungus. Rub it on, under and in the nail bed at night (wear a pair of socks to protect bed linens) and then again in the morning after your shower. Takes a while but it works.

My mom used to make us take a drop of castor oil on a spoonful of sugar for (tape?) worm. It must have worked as we never had them. That Mary Poppins song was wrong though, that sugar did not help.

Hiccups,....HATE hiccups. I get the real vicious kind that feels like your head is going to pop off. Thankfully, me mum had a foolproof cure. Take a spoonful of CREAMY peanut butter in your mouth and swallow slowly. It might take a couple of spoonfuls, but it works. I found yogurt works too. I think it is the consistency that is the secret. I don't care,... it has never failed me.
