Just thought I'd post a couple photos of my easy-loader. This really takes the strain out of loading the 16-rd mag for the SD9 (especially that last round). I milled this from a solid block of 6061 aluminum, then added the thumb piece at the rear. Can load the entire mag in about 7-8 seconds now. :D

This looks great I can only get 15 into my 16 round mag by hand. Now if I can only remember where I left my Bridgeport End Mill....................

Dang it, where's that "Be quiet and take my money" pic when you need it???

:D

Ok seriously, those things are like gold, especially for my daughter and her loading up her Springfield XD subcompact mags. Even I have trouble loading them without the tool they provided.

I've never checked: are those things mag-specific or do they fit most double column mags?

Good job!

If you guys are looking for a commercially available pistol mag loader that accommodates single and double stack magazines of almost all shapes and sizes:

maglula, Ltd. > Pistol Mag Loaders > UpLULA? - 9mm to 45ACP mags

They also have babylula for smaller calibers, and LULA for rifle magazines.

Available at most gun shops/sporting goods stores with gun stuff.

I think a LULA should be a MANDATORY accessory with every pistol purchase...:D

...not sure I would care for a metal on metal assist.

I actually looked at the uplula and still think one hand operation would be hard for me I think this one would work for me better.

With either one, you still need to use two hands. One to hold and push down the loader, and one to insert the round. I'm not sure what advantage you see with this one over the UpLULA.

this looks great being only one handed due to a stroke this looks like a great option. Are you planning on making any to sale?

This can't be used with only one hand. It has to be held down against the spring pressure with one hand, while each round is set into the mag with the other. I think at least one of the commercial loaders can do what you're asking, though. The one I'm thinking of is made so that it completely encloses the circumference of the mag. Maybe it could be pressed down with an elbow or forearm while rounds are loaded with your good hand.

So you push down on tool which pushes down on follower and spring.

Then you insert round, remove tool and slide round to the back of mag.

Then repeat, is this how it works ?

I'd like one more pic showing how the part that pushes down the keeper is attached. You are ingenious. Too bad that the Chinese have seen your post, are busy having their prisoners make these, and will be on the shelves at Harbor Freight next week!

Yes, that's how this one works, but you just have to lift the tool enough to clear the half inserted round, then repeat.

This type of loader is pretty common among handguns and has been for years. I had one that functioned the exact same (except it enclosed all 4 sides of the magazine top) when I had my Glock 17 back in 1997.
