I just got one made from a file. I think my stepdaughter's grandpa made it. It was lying around his tool shed for years, and rusty. I have it soaking in my favorite rust remover now. I'll get it looking like new, and keep it in my safe until she's old enough to have it.

I had a very similar knife made for me by a blacksmith in my hometown. he made it when my dad told him I had orders for Vietnam. took it with me twice and brought it home once. when I left the last time I gave it to a buddy. it would cut anything and I never had to sharpen it. wish I still had it. lee

file knife

I have used files many times to make knives. I forge them to shape,
also I use files to make Damascus knives out of by layering the files between wrought iron and forge welding and folding until I have 500 layers, it make a beautiful pattern and they cut well and stay sharp and are easy to sharpen when needed.

That's a great idea. I've never made a knife handle before. Maybe I can come up with something.
