Hornady .22LR ammo

I don't believe anyone was referring to the Vmax specifically. Just a tipped version of some kind.
I come to think of it, is the 17HMR a Vmax? It's not. 224.

Noah, you're of course, correct.

My point was that .22 Rimfire (not .22 Mags) uses "heeled" bullets, the same bullet diameter, as the case.

The .22 Mag., and .17 rimfires, do not. The bullets are loaded INSIDE the case, as in centerfire cartridges.

I actually dug out the 1975 CCI box. Company was listed as Oakmark-CCI, INC.

The company name was actually Omark. not Oakmark.

I checked my old stock and it's early 80s, not late 70s. All the MiniMag and Green Tag boxes have paper labels on the bottom with no mention of patents - just name trademarks. The MMs are marked $3.15 and the Green Tags $4.09.

The Winchester Super Silhouette boxes have the same info moulded into the bottom that rraisley listed in his post. Otherwise the box is identical to the CCI boxes. The price was $5.69. To my knowledge, this particular ammo is no longer made.

Except for the packaging and the headstamp, the GT and Silhouette are visually identical. Both are MOA in my Ruger scoped 77/22 from the bench.

Yup, its Omark-CCI, Inc. Federal, CCI and many other ammo companies have had lots of owners over the years.

I tried to scan the bottom of the box on our scanner and that doesn't work. I got a really nice picture of a bunch of round nose .22 bullets.

I'll have to try to take a photo of the reflection of the plastic bottom. Translucent stuff is difficult to image.

Hornady finally replied to me...

"No, we do not have any plans to manufacture 22 LR ammunition at this time."

Thank you,
