Several years ago on the Vendors' Row of Camp Perry I bought a big red box of 500 HBWCs in .314". I also have some (2 1/2 boxes) of SWCs sized .313". These are all from Hornady, made in some time in the past. I can't find them listed in the current Hornady online catalog nor in any of the normal websites of reloading supplies. The two times I have sent an e-mail to Hornady's Customer Contact I have gotten an acknowledgement of my question, but then no answer. Does anyone know whether either or both of these might still be available or if there is another equally good source from another manufacturer?

I've gotten several bullet moulds in .313-.314" but for the HBWCs especially I prefer swaged. They will go primarily through my newly recreated K-32 so I'm looking for a very good quality bullet.

As far as I have been able to determine Hornady no longer makes the HBWCs in 32. I was trying to find some this year for my Regulation Police but no luck so far. I haven't really looked on E-bay yet but may have to as a last resort.

The cost per unit to swage them myself would be negligible, but the cost to set up to swage them would be prohibitive. I do have an NOE mould to cast HBWCs but I'm concerned about the possibility of the cast version shedding skirts... probably nothing to worry about, but the concept has gotten planted in my brain. :( I'll check the Speers but now that I think about it, my gunsmith gave me .313 throats, so I don't know whether I would be better off with .313" solids that I cast, size, and lube to fit. I was trying to avoid the extra work and time expenditure, but I may just have to do it.

I have used the Speer brand in my 32 target loads for several years. They are shot with appropriate "target" velocities and are wonderfully accurate, especially in my 16-4. Very inexpensive loading.

You have it bas ackwards.

The cast hbwc's have stronger skirts then their soft swaged counterparts. I cast/shoot countless 1000's of hb bullets every year. Anything from the 32cal's to the 45cal's with loads ranging from 12,000psi to 20,000psi+.

HORNADY 32's

My boxes were 400 each. when I got down to two I started checking--- forget it, not there. However, in my quest for some 38 S&W bullets I also discovered MISSOURI BULLETS has the 32. I got the coated bullets in both flavors and will be placing another order after the first of the year. Good people to deal with. :)

Well, having looked at the prices Missouri is getting and after Forrest r's encouragement, it looks like I'll be firing up my old lead pot and casting some bullets. I've got a 313 die for my Lyman 450 too, so I'm really about to run out of excuses. Thanks to all who responded to my futile attempt!

My 32 Mag nub is amazingly accurate with any DEWC. Its a converted S&W 31-1 by Bowen Arms. With a safe load of BullsEye Ive amazed people, with how far away I can hit ; inside of 50 yards

Just about everyone who shoots 32 for target used to use the H&N swaged bullets from Germany for best accuracy . For 50yd best results a faster twist barrel is needed for stabilizing the slow HBWC . If you'd care to check out the Bullseye Forum & Target Talk you can find what working best these days . Worst thing I remember was getting a powder measure that would accurately throw the miniscule charges , usually less than 2grs . I do remember the expensive Lapua bullets didn't shoot well enough to justify the costs .

Check out Matts Bullets for .32 caliber cast bullets. He offers a HBWC, but I prefer the TL bullet.

I've seen where some folks have, in the past, done large volume group-buys on those H&N .32's because they are held in that high a regard.

Well, I finally got a short response from Hornady, to wit: both the swaged HBWCs and SWCs in 32 are discontinued. Don't ask for more!

Fumbling around in the basement I found my DC Lyman moulds #313445 and #313492 as well as my NOE 32 HBWC, so I guess my path is set. As Yogi Berra once famously said, "If you come to a fork in the road, take it!" Now to find my lead supply!

The Speer bullet is a filthy mess to work with, compared to the Hornady. I'm out of Hornadys altogether and nearly out of Speers. I have no idea where one might buy H&Ns - Champions Choice?

If anyone has more intelligence on the NOE mold and bullets from it, I'd be interested. I've heard it works well with 1.5 grains of WST, but I've no bullets to experiment with. :o

The Speer bullets are a real bargain at $72 per 1000. I used them years ago with no problems in several different revolvers. I'm currently using Lapua 83 grain HBWC's, which I really like, but they're almost twice as expensive. I got them from Grafs.

Can't help you with the Hornady, but after much searching I finally found the Speer, .314, HBWC, 98 grain at Impact Guns. According to their latest email I have a box of 1000 on the way to me now.

Check out Bearcreek bulltets, there is a link in one of the treads on the bulleye forum. Bearcreeks products are worth a look.
