Hot .40 S&W Loads

Well a couple of days ago after getting my 8# jug of CFE Pistol I loaded up some test load and headed to the range with the chrono. Wow thought I was shooting +P+ loads. I was using Hodgdon data which called for 155gr BERB FP which I was using. 7.2gr starting 7.8gr max. COL 1.135. Well I started at 7.5, wrong I know. The max load showed 1,232 fps mine midrange was clocking at a avg of 1,218, but then I have a 5" barrel vice their 4". If I was to add the last .3gr they would be +P+ for sure. I backed them down to 7.2 and will check them this morning.

Knock 50fps off for the 5" bbl, sounds about right.

7.2gr seams to be a good load giving me a avg vol of 1158 fps.
