Those in charge of making gun decisions.

The scariest one I've ever seen was on that show Cops. An officer with big hands in gloves was trying to clear a Star Ultrastar he and his partner had just taken off a perp. It's a pistol with a very low profile slide with reverse guide rails. I was sat watching and cringing waiting for the AD, because you know it was loaded with one up the spout.

When Texas went open carry there were lots of folks openly carrying. Some were real clowns. Over a few months the new wore off and now it is unusual to see a firearm openly visible, but they are still there under cover. The gangs will get no training, but as long as they keep their elimination within their own species, that's OK.
I have yet to see anyone in Texas, other than some flavor of cop, who was carrying openly. But then there are many parts of Texas I never visit.

Tip leads to arrest in 2016 New Orleans triple homicide | Crime/Police | nola.com

We just got constitutional carry passed in Louisiana so everyone not otherwise prohibited by law can now carry a gun openly or concealed. Whether this gives the green light to the gangs to light it up remains to be seen. What worries me is the collateral damage since these gang members no longer have to exhibit proficiency with their chosen weapon as a requisite to carry. One can only hope the gangs have a course in pistol marksmanship that is required by the young'uns before initiation.

Caj, I have a friend that has the highest credentials possible from the NRA to teach firearm safety, I mean she has actually taught the US Navy Seals. She told me about a year ago that if we normal human beings knew how many people that carry concealed have not only never fired the weapon they carry, but have never fired a handgun period it would frost your toilet. I told her what like 30%, she said statistically its probably higher by ten points at best, maybe twenty at worst. Absolutely scary if you ask me. I know that my daughter in law is a very sweet girl but if you sit real close to her in a quiet house you may hear the ocean. She has a concealed carry permit and carries all the time, even in the HOUSE. My son has pulled a pistol in my house when he saw my yard guy out in the backyard spray for weeds, next thing i knew he has his Glock out at the ready "DAD, theres a guy in your backyard!" I told him to put that thing away, thats my yard guy, like I don't have enough guns in my house?

I carry in the house. Maybe you have a dog to give you warning that somebody is outside, but I don't. If a home invasion crew comes in hard and unannounced, things will happen very quickly, and you are unlikely to make it to a firearm that isn't within reach.

Say WHAT?!?
I've read many of your posts over the years Kinman.
But this one just doesn't sound like you IMO.
This post seems really disjointed and odd. Almost like an AI 'bot has hijacked your account or something.
Did you actually type the post above?
If you did, I apologize for questioning the legitimacy of the post.

Mississippi has had open carry for several years. I don't think it's made any difference. Those usuing firearms illegally are still doing so and those that don't illegally use theirs are still not doing illegal stuff with them. I seldom see open carry and when I do it's usually in a rural area (or some goober showing off) and someone is usually on the way somewhere to shoot it or just coming back. Open carry if you like, doesn't bother me, but I feel like it makes you the first target. I prefer to remain concealed and let it be a surprise.
