yep, looked like youngstersThose coyotes did not look all that big. I think they were probably young and not "experienced". Older coyotes that were hungry would have prevailed. Max is one lucky cat and I am happy for him.
I'm thinking those coyotes were just curious not hungry. Looked more like they were just trying to sniff the cat than an attack posture.

Coyotes can be hunted the year round in IL with no limits other than during gun deer season(unless you have unfilled deer tags).

Felines have the ability to attack and defend with claws and teeth, not to mention shear agility.....it does not surprise me that cat prevailed.
