How about a 41 Magnum Show and Tell?

Nice Model 58, and a very nice set of old Herrett's - probably very comfortable to shoot. Go with what works for you !

How about a .41 Mag Show & Tell?

Here's my M 57 & an old model
Ruger Blackhawk, both with
Lawrence leather.

A bad picture...but my two.. a 57-1 and a 57. I am toying with the idea of getting rid of them. I would really like a Model 58 for a base to a custom revolver and another Model 25-? chambered in 45 Colt.

Here's a different one I just picked up.
Product code 170114
3rd Edition Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson says "Run of 25?".
There is also postcard in the box saying thank you for purchasing a Lew Horton Special Edition.

No way to post pictures, but

I have several: 4" 57 nickel that I shoot quite often, because it is freckled. Also have a nib 8-3/8 nickel, a 6" 57-1 blue that is scoped, and have a 657 MG, as well as the custom shop 657 Light Hunter from the late 90s. That is just the Smiths... I also own a Redhawk in both 5-1/2" and 7-1/2", and a Freedom Arms 654 Silhouette, with a 10-1/2" barrel, five shot unfluted cylinder, and FA ISGW silhouette sights.

I think that is all of them, but I recently sold a 657 Classic Hunter NIB, as wellas my 8-3/8" blue 57 no dash in presentation case.

Dad carried his 58 for awhile 'til he got denied permission to carry it.
He even had the same style holster made by the same company that made their duty holsters for the Mod 10-6 HB so everything looked similar just at 11/10ths scale. :)
Of course that is the first .41 Magnum I ever shot and it started me down that slippery slope of .41 Magnum love :p

Been there done that! I carried the 58 for 13 years. Then the Patrol issued Model 66's and said we had to carry them.

I had been in 4 serious social encounters, and I din't want no pip-sqeak .357 if I got in another one. I quit and went back to ranchin'!!

You were way better armed with that 58 than any .357 mag IMO Mr. Iggy. Especially out west where help can be far, far away.

I just added a model 58 to the .41 mag collection. I let the first one go out of stupidity back in 85. Now I need a Mountain Gun in .41 mag that I let slip through my fingers.

That was back in '64 that my Dad was trying to convince the MSP to at least move up to .357 Magnum from .38 Special. He was invited to the Captains meeting to discuss the pros and cons of the .41 Magnum or .357 Magnum; vs. the .38 Special. After his presentation all the Captains recommended getting the Combat Masterpiece .357 Magnum.
The Asst. Chief was not convinced though, and continued on with the order for Mod 10 4"HB and Western 200gr Lubaloy ammo.
I don't recall of hearing of any "serious social encounters" in the next 16 years so that worked out okay. Finally, in 1980 they were issued the Model 66 and turned in the Model 10's.

I just wanted one engraved M57 and found the blue one first...then a few years later the nickel one came up for auction and since it was a 1980, along with a standard blue 1980 that I've owned since 1983 I went for it....

This is the 1980 S&W that was my second 57...this was 25 yards back in the day when the eyes were a little sharper..

Best caliber S&W ever chambered a gun for.... :-)

This is one of several 41 Magnums I have, but the most interesting I think. It started off as a 6" Model 657. I had Austin Behlert shorten the barrel to 4" and the job he did blending the original front sight base with the rib is truly amazing. You have to really look to see the seam. I've shot this gun so much over the years that the cylinder had to be refaced, the barrel turned in one turn to set the B/C gap and the forcing cone recut. It's a tack driver with a superb action. The grips are Spegel Extended Boot Grips in Makassar Ebony.

Very nice. Can we see a close-up of the fitting Behlert did of the front sight ramp?

Good Evening, Gentlemen.

As a hard-core .41 fan, I have really enjoyed perusing this thread!! Well done, to one and all, for sharing your great .41's with the rest of us fans!

I have "more than a few" .41's, but only one .44. My .41 stable includes an American Derringer, too, which is a REAL handful to shoot with heavy bullets!! It's the only gun I've ever fired that, upon pulling the trigger, felt like it was going to come back and smack me in the forehead!! YIKES!

I bought my first .41 back in 1986, in Colorado, from the owner of a nice little gunshop. It was actually his wife's gun, a nice Ruger Blackhawk New Model, 6.5" barrel. He sold it to me for just $180, and after I shot that gun, I've never looked back!! Love the caliber, and the guns that shoot it!! I'll try to dig out a few of mine, and post photos here.

I have to credit some of the old gun writers for convincing me that the .41 was "enough" gun for must anything that needed to be done with a handgun! Amongst them were: Evan Marshall, Dick Metcalf, Skeeter Skelton, Frank Petrini, Bob Milek, Dean Grennell, and a few others who wrote glowingly about the .41 magnum. I've been hooked since that first one came to live with us, in '86, and I don't see that addiction changing anytime soon. Thanks, again, for sharing your great .41's, and God Bless!

Every Good Wish,
Doc

This is my 657 PC with a 2 5/8" bbl. I use it for a daily carry piece with 175 grn silver tip hp. It shoots great hits hard and kicks less than a 357 in my opinion.

You need to nickname that gun "AB", meaning "All Business"!! It don't look like its meant to impress your girlfriend!

Marshal 357,
This forum has many 41 Magnum lovers. I must count myself among them. The problem for those of us that have been enjoying the cartridge for several decades now is that keeping the photo album up to date is very difficult. I have somewhere over half of mine photographed, perhaps 3/4 and never find the time to do a new family photo.

I traded Lee a new classic 22 in nickel for this at the Richmond meeting. I sent it back to Smith to be renickeled. Now it is too pretty to shoot.

Request for SAPD M-58 Pics

Member asked for pics of one of my .41Mags. Since I couldn't figure out how to attach them to my original input, here they are. Love those .41 Mags. Keep shootin'
