How about a Mountain Gun thread

This thread needs more blue examples.
Here's my 29-8; low recoil buffalo bores in the speed loaded.

Tenman,

If you aint going to shoot that .45ACP 625MG, I know someone who would. Gosh, that's purdy! I'd buy one with an IL in a minute. I've been waiting 6 yr for a run of them... I'm not holding my breath. I officially give up...

I have a friend who has a 44 mag 19-2 mountain revolver(early 1990s) he wants to sell and I want to buy. It is mint condition.
What is fair price to ask for such a gun.

You would not like it. When you shoot 6 rounds all you get is one hole in the target and
it uses a NINJA star thingy that causes all the brass to fall out at once when the cylinder is opened.

I have a pre-lock 629-4 bought NIB in the mid '90s. Nothing fancy, just plane black sights and Hogue rubber grip with 'Mountain Gun' on the right side of the barrel, and '44 Magnum' on the left side.

Its in 98% to 95% condition. I have only a vague idea of what it's worth or what to ask as a selling price for it.

Is this thing worth any more than a standard 629?

i have wanted the 357 686 + MG ever since i read the write up in "Handguns 99" dont recall ever seeing one for sale in PRK. passed on a few 44 MGs regretably, and I havnt seen one for sale in a long time.

Doublesharp,
I absolutely LOVE your 396!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My .41 magnum Mountain Gun, purchased last Monday. It shoots no better (or worse) than my 4" #57 or my #58.

ARMT guy, last summer I purchased this pre-owned S&W #629 .44 mag for about $450.00, no box or papers. It is not a Mountain Gun, but not alot of difference between them. I gave a good bit more last Monday for the .41 in my post above. I hope this helps you some.

For those who think there is a whopping difference in weight, think again. The difference is only slightly LESS than three ounces between my 4" M629 no-dash and my M629-2 Mountain Revolver. The weight diff is all in the barrel which does give them a slightly different feel and handling quality but I can't tell any difference at all when wearing/carrying one or the other.
