How 'accurate' is your M&P .45?

I'm primarily a '1911' shooter, but am curous about the accuracy potential and abilities of the M&P .45. What bullet weights do they seem to like best? Any standouts in duty/CCW ammo? TIA

VERY accurate and not at all finicky about what is fed into it. Not far from my best 1911 National Match.

I purchased a full size M&P45 on a whim. I was impressed by both it's reliability and accuracy. It was totally reliable with any thing from 185 gr. LSWC through 185 & 230 gr. JHP and 230 gr. FMJ reloads. As a bonus it provided nice tight ten shot groups at 50 ft. which measure 1 1/4 to 2 inches in diameter. I only wish the trigger was a bit smoother - hope to cure that with an Apex sear.

I have a 45c and 1 3/4 to 2.5" five shoot group is pretty common with this gun shooting a 230 LRN over 5.5grains of 231 at 25yds.

This 45c has been doing this for several years now.

In so far as these things are nominally Self Defense guns, being able to put about six rounds into a six inch circle at about 30' is all that's necessary....

But it is fun to make the guy in the next stall look over and ask what the heck you're shooting when you make his $1,000++ uber-accurized gun look crappy....

Regards,

One of my favorite pistols to shoot. I basically shoot at the SD range of 21ft, it shoots what I like to call "dead". I'm not a bullseye shooter, although I can shoot the bullseye out with a box of WWB.. I've let several people shoot my 45 with some Apex parts and the result is always the same, they "kill" the target and always respond with "Wow" great gun.

I've shot primarily 230gr WWB, but have also shot a variety of other ammo without one hiccup.

Three to three and a half inch groups off hand at 25 yards with factory ammo (230 gr. Hydra Shok as I recall), more or less out of the box with factory night sights. It would cut a playing card in half at five yards, and maybe even farther back if I could have seen the edge of the card....

Pretty accurate. I'm adding some APEX kits for a lighter pull and 'similar' 1911 trigger .... but I shoot a bit low at 30+yds w a 230g FMJ ...

I love it, but I'm looking forward to a trigger job.

Very, specially now that I replaced the sear and the stricking block with the ones from Apex.

Mine went from 7+ pounds of trigger pull to 5+ pounds.

1911s are probably always going to be a bit more accurate than a DAO trigger.

To me, a 1911 is more of a target gun that can also do personal defense. They are a bit heavy for the role of IWB CCW in my humble opinion.

The M&P isnt a "target" gun, but is "good enough" on the range

And great as a CCW piece.
