How big is your biggest Knife?

For me, it's gonna be my 14" Old Hickory butcher knife. I have longer machetes, but this would look right at home in a kitchen drawer, if only it would fit. I call it the Elstin Limehouse Replica for its disarming qualities.

Cold Steel says it's a machete, but I don't think the blade's heavy enough.

Smatchet.

A couple of recent acquisitions.

12" camp/chopper by Phillip Patton. Seriously, if you get a chance to score one of his knives, do it. You won't be disappointed.

11" D-ring Bowie by Cody Hofsommer.

10" San Mai Bowie by the Sobral Bros. at CAS Knives in Argentina. Love that color on the stag.

I have a folding "pocket" knife with an overall length, when open, is not quite 24 inches. Doesn't fit in my pocket so good, but is really neat looking.

When I was a teenager a friend of mine whose father had a knife like that I think. It looked like a straight blade but the handle would fold out to make the blade even longer. His story was he traded a man from Jamaica (who worked at the local resort in our town) for a goat that he had kept to keep the brush back. Oh and my largest knife would be my USMC KABAR.

1970 Model Nepalese Kukri

1970 Model Nepalese Kukri, as issued to the Gurkhas at the time. My dad brought about ten of these back from one of his numerous trips to Nepal and I eventually ended up with two of them. At the time we were living in New Delhi, India. There were very cheap knock-offs of the kukri being sold in India at the time; believe me, they weren't worth taking home. :)

Come to find out, these knives are still available, and for a very fair price, although not exactly the same $2.00 apiece my dad paid in 1970. A word of warning if you end up with one of these knives: When withdrawing the blade from the sheath, force the blade against the back of the sheath with your off hand as you pull the knife out. If you don't do this carefully, and correctly, at the very least you'll destroy the sheath by cutting through it with the curved blade, or worse, you may slice your fingers!

Since I don't have to whack my way thru a jungle, fight off an Alamo full of meskins, chop wood/split kindling with a knife or use a blade for a prybar, my biggest is a 4" blade and inch wide and an eighth thick (and I'd prefer 3/32). Since I only use a knife to cut stuff with, there is a lot more of those big useless hogs for the rest of you........grin
