I like your piece. can you tell me what the raised area on the tip of the dust cover is?

That is called a "slide guide", this is what they say about it ontheir website-

our "SLIDE GUIDE" method which involves welding an extension to the front of the dust cover. The extension has two set screws. By adjusting the screws all horizontal and vertical movement of the slide is eliminated. The advantage of the slide guide method is that the slide is tight in the locked position but is free in the cycle mode. This enhances the functioning of the slide and eliminates break in period.

Yeah, it'll never shoot 2.5" @ 50yds in my hands, but it's cool that the gun will be capable of it. Of course, any errant shots and misses will clearly be my fault...
