A flattened brass cartridge case or an old credit card makes a decent scraper.

If you're buying your bullets, buy the coated ones. They aren't much more and the problems you're having will disappear.

If you plan on shooting more lead bullets, it may be time to invest in a critter called a 'Lewis Lead Remover.' This gadget and its tools can take lead out of forcing cones, cylinder bores, above the barrel, everywhere it collects. You can use the soft brass mesh 'screens' in the kit to wipe off that lead smeared on the cylinder surface without risk of damage to the blue. No solvents, no soaking, little effort.

Remove the cylinder and soak in Kroil at least overnight. Kroil is highly penetrating and should get under the fouling.

I shoot a lot of lead. A little Hoppes and a brass brush work just fine for me.
