How do I 1911? I like Colt's of course, and Kimber, Sig and Springfield. Lately it's been with Dan Wesson. They make a quality built 1911, in many variations. All good.

I have had over 40 M1911's. The earliest was a 1912 M1911 to a Colt M1911 Series 80. I have taught marksmanship with the M1911A1, taught Combat Pistol (ala Gunsite styled course by the Corps) and shot Bullseye and IPSC with the M1911 for 48 years. I still own one M1911 and that is a Series 70 Gold Cup (original Series 70) with a Colt Conversion Unit in .22 LR. This gun will go to the grave with me.

I transitioned from 1911s to Sig 220/245s in the late 80s to meet my .45 caliber needs.................... that said every true shooter/collector/accumulator needs at least one............ mine is a Sig C3 CCO...... Officers frame mated to a Commanders upper.....IMO the perfect combo for .45 caliber..... cocked and locked concealed carry.

i too own a few, Colt, Springfield. current and always favorite is a 1972 production combat commander in 9mm. Bar-sto barrel, Novak 3 dots. shoots like a 22lr, accurate as any i have ever shot or owned... i know, its not a .45, but i still love it!

Here are a few of mine that are in the stable.

Frankly, I dislike the bells and whistles. The original 1911 and 1911A-1 would be ideal if made in modern stainless steel.

I especially dislike grip safeties with that duck's tail look and hollowed out triggers.

I'd limit my selections to Colt, Remington, and Springfield.

My most accurate was a Gold Cup made in 1966 and the nicest was a .38 Super, about 1935-36. VERY smooth action, Match grade, but fixed sights.

I love that pic! Great pair. All business.
I imagine I could get through life happy with just those two.
Thank you for the compliment. I completely agree. In fact, I do well mostly with just the one. The one on the bottom sees most of the work. The top one is just for fun.

And I am a "function over form" kind of shooter.
