I doubt I'm the oldest guy on here, I'm only 83.
Lately, about the last year or so, I find myself thinking more
about the past and less about the future. Previously most of
my thoughts were about the future and seldom about the past.
Is this typical? Anyone else have a similar change?

I'm with you, Phil.

It got so bad that I started writing a book about my past. I had a lot of great mentors. That task has turned out to be a lot tougher than I thought. Being honest and candid can still get you into trouble. I finally decided I wouldn't publish until I was dead, which cleaned up a lot of my thought processes.

The danger I see is trying to live in the past. I'm pretty sure you can only live in the present.

Only 73 Phil but I tend to think a lot about the future and to be honest kind of glad I will not see it.

I did have a rather interesting past (did a lot) and some of those memories are quite good!:D

How do I define "old age"......... TTSH :D

Just turned 65 and in the middle of building a lake house retirement home in the Laurel Highlands of Pa....... so I'm hoping for a long, and active future!!!!

That said....... turning 65 did come with some reflection of the past 45 year (since college).

Losing old friends and relatives. Just the beginning. Thinking back over the years, I was fortunate but did/said a lot of stupid things that I wish I could undo. Tried not to hurt anybody but know I did a few times along the way. Can't imagine living without my wife, but still have thoughts of that first love in high school who broke off with me abruptly.

Overall, my family is my success. Kids and grandkids all doing well.

I define old age... " when I lose the ability to accomplish the things I love to do "

It really helps to stay active and exercise every day. Sure life gets in the way and somedays you just don't have the time to exercise....but keep that the exception, and get back at them the next day....you know you feel better after doing them...they keep you alive.

Old age is unique for sure.
In February of 2009 I got a handicap placard for my vehicle. I told my wife I'd probably expire before the placard would. I told her the same thing when I got the next. The third one has me very worried.
