How do *You* J-frame Carry?

Before getting my Sig P365 I carried J frames exclusively (as a backup when working and as a primary since retirement). I carried most days in a Galco Ankle Glove, ankle holster. I got used to wearing it as a backup when I was working. Ankle holsters take practice and time to get used to them.

For several years I carried my 642-1 in a Side Guard Quick Clip IWB holster. Still do on occasion.

Nowadays I carry it mostly as a BUG in a Wilderness Tactical Renegade ankle holster.

Not a fan of pocket carry, but on the rare occasion I do, it's usually in a Nemesis or Blue Force Gear pocket holster.

I like J frames a lot but don't stick with one version or one method of carry. Different activities, clothing choices and weather require a different combinations. I guess that if pinned down to one J frame it would be my 649 "no dash" but I have and use a variety of holsters for it.

Pocket holster, weak side. I'm fairly ambidextrous. It has worked for me twice in real life situations. Each time didn't have to draw but had the gun in hand.

I'll also do Mexican carry cross draw when driving or such.

My choice for J Frame carry is this S&W 642-1. I like to carry it in this
Black Hills shark skin high ride pancake style holster. Carry it on my
strong (right) side hip at about 4 O'Clock. I also carry one reload in a
Bianchi speed strip.

When the concealed J Frame is needed, it is needed quickly. Consequently
I practice the draw religiously. I used to be able to draw, get a flash sight
picture, and fire in less than a second. But that was a long time ago.

I prefer the concealed hammer to reduce the odds of snagging the hammer
on the draw. I also prefer the open top (no retention strap) because it is
a split second quicker. The Black Hills pancake is worn high and tight, so
it is ideal for concealment.

S&W leather belt slide, 4 o'clock. Conceals well enough, slide allows best feel position no matter jeans, dress slacks, etc. Always with a fairly stiff belt (usually Galco) width of belt depends on slacks or jeans etc.

Extra ammo 2 Bianchi speed strips in weak side pocket.

Works well for me for bucoo years, Model 36 replaced by Model 60, then with 637-2 (current EDC) for the +P loading.

Versatile and comfortable.
