Much too hot, for man or beast... and for all plant life. We sure could use some rain right about now!

69 degrees, high clouds, hasn't rained in 25 minutes, grill heating up (Smoked Sausage 2 nite!) So in short, it's looking very Vodka Martini out!

It seemed like only a couple weeks ago most of us were complaining about this being the longest winter in memory!

Summer is here

Howdy,
No problem. I leave a trail like a slug but I feel good.
Local TV weather is trying to scare the crap out of me "Do you know it is the fourth day in a row with temp in the 90's"
Yikes the 90's! Somehow I cant get too excited about the 90's I wonder when that quits scaring people will they start on the 80's? It's like the TV commercial where the guy tells the man "The towels are kinda scratchy!" It just ain't that spooky to me.
My fear lies on the other end of the spectrum. If someone says mid 40's I run and find a soup pot and start wishing for summer.
Keep cool everyone.
Mike

97 right now in north east Oklahoma at 7:33 p.m.!

Don't know how hot it got today, but it was "deathly hot" by 9:00 a.m. this morning. I started painting on a house at about 7 and knocked it off by 9 because of the heat.

I've got my air conditioning thermostat set at 76 right now, and it feels like walking into a refrigerator from out side!

A tad warm!!

I got into my truck to come home at 3:30 P.M. today. The little rearview mirror thermometer said 107 degrees. 11 miles from office to home. Mirror read 102 degrees when I got here.
A tad warm for June in south Louisiana.
teesur.

We hadn't had ambient temps over a hundred in the last several years. We'd actually been having relatively mild summers for quite a while. Then last week it turned into a torture chamber down here. We've topped a hundred for the last 8 days, and probably have a couple more to go. Couple that with murderous humidity, and it makes for sheer misery.

Every year about this time I think how nice it would be to live somewhere that it didn't get so hot. Then along about January or February I start seeing pictures in the news of white outs, blizzards, and ice storms, and I think maybe this ain't such a bad place after all.

I live alone except for a cat. My central air broke down about 4-5 years ago. Didn't feel like spending $2500-$3000 to replace it. Plus it would cost about an extra $800-$1000 in electricity to keep it going for 4 months. Decided to just sweat it out every summer.

Raining here in Central NJ now (2150). We have had a pretty wet Spring, oddly enough we had a heat wave April 17-25, since then temperatures a little below average.

Its still 91 here and its after 9 pm. I like warm weather, but upper 90's are hard to handle as I get older and heavier. Still much better than snow and cold.

Almost 100 and sunny every day last week, and maybe the week before that and all this week and I love it, it might rain Thursday.

Low 90s here in Indiana today and pretty fair humidity, but not oppressive unless standing in the sun on asphalt. I am expecting a hot summer and lots of mosquitos, so I hope I am proven wrong. Allergens have been high this year and have made for a tiresome spring.

The weather reporting staion around the corner from the house is saying that currently it is 86* F and falling with a relative humidity of 74%. Lots of thunder boomers outside right now (2159 CDT). Hopefully we will get some rain out of them. High today was 104* and the highest humidity was 86%, both recorded at 1645 (GMT-5). Heat index at that time was 112*. Thank GOD my AC is working and pitty the fool that tries to steal my compressor for the copper, like happened three doors down while they where on vacation. Lets just say that someone will get the 220V/60A shock of their life if they mess with the chain link fence around and on top of my AC.

By the way this is near Memphis

Not sure, but it might have made 100 today here in West Tennessee. If not, it was darned close. Forecast is for upper 90s all week. Wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the humidity. That's been running around 80% or more lately.
Currently here at roughly 10:00pm: Temperature is 81 degrees, Humidity is 85%.

Its gonna be a long miserable summer. :(

yeah, but its a dry heat. Never forgot a old cartoon of some guys in hell hearing that!

It was forecast to hit 107 here in the Valley of the Sun today, but I left early for the high country of Zane Grey's "Tonto Rim" and the Colorado Plateau, and didn't drop back onto the desert floor until around sundown. It was intermittently raining and mid-80's up high, high 90's down here upon my return. I'd set the thermostat at 80 when I left this morning, and that seemed refreshingly cool when I walked in the door...

Hit 109 here in the Mohave, West Coast of Arizona. Thought it was gonna get really hot but it didn't make it so far. Wife was complaining about the temp in the pool being chilly, it's only up to about 88 so we gotta leave the solar covers on for awhile longer.

All joking aside, the dry air does make a difference. I'm from South Texas, I know what humidity and heat are like. In this dry climate it's a bit different. I got out of the pool awhile ago and even standing in the sun I was chilly. Although it's pushing triple digits, the pool water evaporates so quickly that it actually leaves you feeling chilled !

What HoustonRick said.. Hot damp and sticky-not necessarily a bad thing depending on what one is referring to, but regarding weather, it is what it is.

Hey, stop that talk about rain! We had one of the wettest Mays on record, and June hasn't been exactly dry! But I have to tell ya oldfella, this oldgal is tired of this heat too! Cooled off yesterday to 91 from 99 the day before, with a heat index of 110! Can't even cool off in the pool! At least you guys can run around topless!
