About 26 years ago, I was 60, and had my first heart "event".
I examined my life to determine how I could improve things.
One thing I decided was that I didn't need to be climbing around
in the mountains hunting any more. So I gave all of my long
guns away. When I told my dear departed wife, she said you
did what? Are you crazy? So that's how I became crazyphil.
How did you get your handle?

I like mystery novels. The Continental Op is the title given to an unnamed private detective in a series of short stories written by Dashiell Hammett, who had also been a private detective. When I joined I was working as a corporate investigator, so I was kind of a private detective, and I thought it was appropriate. *shrug*

I got my AzShooter from my archery days and photography. Now it includes my gun shooting.

I'm known as Starfighter by a number of shooters because I was at a match many years ago when The Last Starfightert came out. I went to the shooting line with my competition revolver. It had a 6 inch Bull Barrel and one of the first Aimpoints made.

The RO looked at it and say "Greeting Starfighter". The name stuck with me.

More than half a lifetime ago I worked evenings and weekends as a theater tech, doing lighting and stagehand work. Good stress reliever after full days in retail. I branched out to live music, buying a p.a. system and doing regional touring with several bands. I also ran a recording studio. At one gig, a band member said "Is it any coincidence that our soundman has the initials P. A.?" Thereafter my legal DBA was "pasound", and when the internet got rolling in the early 90's, it became my handle there, too. No more live music and theater work, as I've gotten too old and a little deaf, but the name stayed with me.

During the third Seminole Indian War Captain Richard Turner led 100 troops up a river in the Big Cypress Swamp. They were ambushed and retreated, Turner returned to the spot after the war and gave the River his name. In the 1960’s my lifelong friend’s father, a mentor to me, bought a chunk of land up Turner River Road and built a gun range. That’s still where I do most of the shooting I do and where I’ve spent countless hours of pure enjoyment. Hence the handle.
Regards,

When I joined almost 20 years ago I was making bank as a "pharmaceutical sales consultant." Unfortunately, I turned 53 and was told (paraphrasing): "Joe, even though you made 'President's Club' last year (top 1% of sales), you don't look like Ken or Barbie anymore. You can go now." And yeah, go on and sue for "age discrimination," they have 100 lawyers on staff full time with nothing better to do than tie you up in court till you die. Too old to change my handle now. Joe

This is one of those threads that I was hesitant to open!

But glad I did.

Mine is from my best four leg friend for over 13 years.

My friends hung it on me a while ago.

Mine is dictated by my musical tastes. The blues from the south in the decades before WWII had colorful characters and I like their message. Musicians like Blind Boy Fuller, Blind Willie Johnson, Blind Blake, Blind Willie McTell, Sonny Terry, Doc Watson, frequently spin on my turntable. Now I've got to get out Blind Boy Fuller's Pistol Slapper Blues and start my weekend off right. Then I'll get out my .32-20 and ........
