I am downsizing my book collection and plan on eliminating my military history collection. Other than fleabag any suggestions?

I'm not sure what fleabag is but you could sell them online I see people buy books ate garage sales for .50 and turn around and sell them for 10$ on ebay

make sure you know what the library is going to do with the books. I gave a bunch of books to the local library and as it turns out they didn't have a lot of space to keep so they just threw them away along with all of the other donated books. there was a lot of very upset people about that when that was made public

Might sell them here? No FFL dealer needed, but the title and the postage have to be considered, and you'll need to describe the book's condition precisely and maybe provide photos.

Or, get a copy of Sporting Classics and contact the book dealers who advertise there. They're more into classic hunting and fishing books but might buy what you have. And if they're selling a title that you have, you can use their price for a reference.

Don't just sell to a used book store for a pittance, if you have anything good and maybe old.

If you sell them and plan on shipping them, send them USPS at the "book rate" it very cheap.

Most if my "military history" collection are kind of a specialty area. I collected 1st person accounts of military service with the exception of the US Civil War. The oldest goes back to the 1830s. On the down side it's British but on the upside it's about an area that is now called The Sandbox. I was sent a link to a specialty dealer and will try that first. Some will probably end up here as karmas.

The wife and I still have our college text books, but we know classmates and others that sold them on Amazon.com.

If you want to deal with shipping and payment, et cetera, it might be a good option.

Locally, you could look to Craigslist and it's free--other than your time.

Yes but if the library tosses them you get a deduction for your donation. If you toss them you get nothing. Selling used hardbacks usually gets you 5%-7% of face value.

I like to support the local bookstores that take in used books since they have to compete against the big chain stores like Barnes & Noble. A lot of the owners tend to be people who actually do really love books. There is one here in town that gives store credit and they offer a pretty good deal. Would suggest you look and see if there are any businesses like this in your area.

Contact your local VA Hospital. They won't always be able to take them, but if they do, they'll at least be appreciated by those that get them. All of my used gun magazines and a lot of military themed books go there.

Sure like to see a listing of them in the 'for sale' forums here. I have a lot of military books, and can always use more titles I don't have. Whatever you finally do with them, a listing here doesn't cost anything.

OK, I'll send a list of the WW1 books to the person that asked and start posting the rest of the firearms related books here to give the forum members first crack at them.
