How long did it take to get comfortable carrying, and WHAT was your first carry weapo

The first gun I carried was a Glock 27. I went through the normal nervousness that someone would see me with it for probably a few weeks. Then it just became part of my normal dress.

I can't carry at work so, I'm comfortable with or without.

I was never uncomfortable about a negligent discharge. Now I carry a 1911 and am much happier. The gun is thinner and I shoot it better.

Yep, suppose I could carry Condition 2.
What is it that bothers you about condition 1? Are you worried that the hammer will accidentally fall?

Obviously it won't help to say that the gun is safe in condition 1. So, here's an exercise that many have done to gain confidence. Carry the gun in a simulated condition 1. Put it in your holster while at home with the hammer cocked and safety on, but don't put a round in the chamber. Then, at the end of the day, you'll see that the hammer is still back and the safety still on.

Just a thought.

I love the Hi Power. It's a brilliantly designed gun. The only thing I don't like about it is the almost non-existent reset. In my book it's second only to the 1911.

I find that the saftey does not click and seem positively engaged, maybe I'm just not used to it. I definitely will keep the Hi Power and practice carrying in Condition 1, but will reserve the option of carrying in Condition 2 if the safety does not stay positively engaged.

My first concealed carry weapon was a 5" barrel S&W Model 10 .... gov't issued. Carried it in a pancake style holster made by a local guy and it worked pretty good. After a few years on the Force I moved into a 2 " model 10. I was never really nervous about being spotted by anyone other than other LEO who may get a bit nervous until they see the ID but it has never hppened to me in 27 yrs of carrying a firearm. I don't carry a revolver anymore .... my organization moved over to Smith pistols in 1996.

Experimented with carrying a G22 and a 469, but the way I worked and dressed made that less than practical. Liked both guns, but not for EDC. Too hard to prevent printing and the G22 felt like carrying a brick.

First I carried all the time, until I could afford a J-frame, was a Rossi Model 88, a clone of the M60 and quite a good little gun for the money. Began the habit of holstered pocket carry, and never felt uncomfortable doing it.

As soon as I could I bought the 640 no-dash I've carried daily for around thirteen years. It's second nature, the weight doesn't bother me at all, and if anyone has ever spotted the piece nothing has been said.

I've owned various other revolvers and automatics, but for concealed carry I've always gone with the snubby.
