HOW LONG SHOULD I KEEP THIS STUFF?

My Brother in law writes checks for everything. If I pick something up for him and say it cost $18.26, he’ll write me a check for that amount exactly. Most people will just throw a $20 bill & all’s cool. Wife’s friend comes over to get her hair done. Chrissey charges her $20 just for the heck of it, and Linda has the check made up. I’m curious if and when the original Pittsburghers from this end of town will come into the 20th Century!
All my records are in my bank statement archives. To each his/her own.

Keep paper copies of paid bills? Plus the envelopes. I am old school, so, yes. I can go back 7 years. If the house catches fire it will burn for days. I follow the wife's lead.

I go thru my files yearly and purge (shred) everything more than one year old.
