How many guns before my wife says "Enough"?

The other day I was cleaning half of my handgun collection and my wife asked: That's all your guns? My instant answer was: Yes my love!!! She said: Wow, you have a lot :D:D:D

When my wife responds that way, she's not talking about my firearms.

Ba da bump!

Pretty neutral when it came to guns when I was younger. My family doesn't hunt, so firearms were never part of the equation.

Then, my sons were born and the images of Katrina flashed across the TV screen. It was THEN that I made the decision that I couldn't wait until the cops came to save my ***.

Told my mom...her response..."What do you need a gun for? Call the cops." Total ignorant thinking that the media and government brainwashes the unknowing public with.

Asked my wife (sheepishly), "What do you think about us getting a gun? See what happened in N.O.?"

Wife's response: "Ummm, never thought of it. Let me ask my mom, I think she has a gun." A few days later..."I spoke to my mom, and they have 15 guns!"

So, I take that as an open ticket (money willing) to protect my family. :D

Following Aurora, CO theater shooting, it became apparent that I was getting complacent. So, the CCW app went in. Following that, it dawned on me that I needed a lot of ammo given the election results; bought >$1000 in ammo on Nov 8 (plus, I just became a member of a gun club to practice, so we needed ammo) was a sticker shock for her, but it has proven correct. Following CT shooting, it had become apparent that SHE was getting complacent, so the added ammo with another CCW app in the works are IMO good foresight.

Guns and ammo are good as gold to me. There's resale value, and it's like buying good term life insurance. Having the cash for it is the hard part because none of it is cheap.
- firearm
- ammo
- accessories (gun holsters, mag holsters, lasers, rail accessories, safes, cleaning supplies)
- gun club membership (unless you live in the boonies).

Guns and ammo don't mean spit if you don't have the training to go along with them.

"Owning a gun doesn't make you any more armed than owning a guitar makes you a musician." -Col. Jeff Cooper

You've got the first part, now get some quality training.

It's a matter of priorities: Do you want to stay married? Keep the kids in college? Pay the mortgage? Eat?

If she says "Buy one more gun, and I'm leaving" Do you say "I'll miss you"

For single guys: Does your match.com profile say "Looking for woman with a minimum 24-gun safe. Send picture of safe."

All of my brothers long guns wear the same color and model case. She watches them carried out to the truck, carried in to the safe. She doesn't keep a tally of in and outs, and doesn't know the safe combination.

Just saying.

"What she doesn't know won't hurt her?"
"Don't ask, don't tell?"

Seriously?

In our house, most every financial decision is made openly and in concert. Been married 33 years and keeping it that way for another 33 depends on honesty and respect.

My ole lady use to be on of those garage sale types. She would wake up early on Friday and Saturdays just to go look at garage sales.

Now days she wakes up early on weekends and heads to the LGS just so she can ask her favorite question of all time "Do you have any new Kimbers in". I dunno what it is about her and Kimber, but I believe my love for 1911's is wearing off on her.

Just last week i caught her carrying my Kimber Ultra as her CC weapon. I never would have thought my ole lady would put her shield 9mm down for anything. And of course she uses the excuse "I like em big". I guess she meant the .45 compared to her 9mm, LMAO.
