How many horses can you get in a long bed pickup?

Five, if you are in Puerto Rico. I took this photo a few years ago in San Juan.

Holy Crap!!:eek:

I wouldn't load more than one and I wouldn't like that!!:cool:

I saw people riding those 'horses' on the beach in San Juan, P.R. and by my old Nevada cowboy standards they are not horses, but rather ponies. None of them weighs much more than 600 lbs. Still I count 5 ponies so that means at least a load of 3000 lbs. That poor old Ford pickup isn't squatting down much nor are the rear tires bulged much. I guess the driver knows what he is doing......... Big Cholla

DY: They are NOT 'wild' horses, but rather are 'feral' horses. They have no business or innate 'right' to running on the open range and should ALL be removed asap. Just my opinion as a horseman and a person that loves horses. .......... Big Cholla

Here on the east coast, they have the Chincoteague Pony Swim

There's a big fair and an auction of young ponies, and all the captured ponies get their shots and vet attention, and then they swim back to their island.

We've been there, and if you go, bring mosquito spray because the mosquitos are bigger and more numerous than the ponies.

What's the problem?

The wranglers were right behind him if there was any problem...... :D

The horses I have seen being ridden in Puerto Rico have all been in the west side and in the mountains. They are smaller than the horses I am used to but larger than what I would call a pony. It is pretty common to see horses being ridden in the country side. I was driving from Barranquitas to San Juan one Saturday night and passed by a cantina that had as many horses hitched out front as automobiles in the parking lot.

Not photoshopped. We were driving back to our hotel after a long day in the field and were amazed at the sight ahead of us. I managed to get my camera out and took the photo I have attached. I am fixing to retire in 7 days and am going thru my computer at work and copying some photos I have taken while on the job.

EQGuy: Your picture reminds me of an Uncle of mine that had two ranches about 14/15 miles apart in the hill country of Arkansas. He had a F-250 pickup with a hard rubber mat and no side rails above the bed. He was in the habit of checking the cattle at each place every other day. He had a favorite cutting horse that would jump into the back of the pickup truck if the tailgate was down and would turn around and jump out when arrived at the next location. My Uncle never used a tie on the horse and the horse never offered to move while the pickup was moving. All the driving was fairly slow as were the turns and stops. That horse/pickup combination was photographed when going down the road more than Blanchard Springs. .......... Big Cholla

Exactly! These should be made into Alpo and holsters and glue until they've been eradicated. They are every bit an invasive species nuisance as zebra mussels, kudzu vine, or exotic snakes in the Everglades. The amount of public money squandered on the "roundups", adoption programs, etc. is a disgrace. All to assuage a bunch of goody-two-shoes "animal lovers."

handejector;
Where did you get that???? I had to drive thru parts of Chicago in the snow/ rain, etc. today, and wouldn't have been surprised by much.
That pic has given me the first smile I've had all day. TACC1
