David, nice 559, congratulations.I have never seen a front sight quite like the one on your pistol.Does your pistol match the box, serial #etc.If so does it mention anything about sights.

I just spotted a Smith & Wesson Model 659 with serial# matching factory box on GB (Item# 924096515) with what appears to be the same front sight, so I reckon it must be stock after all.

Those are not factory sights either. The box clearly indicates "FS" for the sights, that indicates fixed sights.

Some people say FS is for Stainless Frame, the AMSF is ambidextrous safety.

They are discontinued Meprolight night sights. It is unfortunate that Meprolight does not re-lamp their sights.
