The first rifle I bought was a S&W M&P 15-22. Loved it, and I still do.

I wanted something bigger so I bought a 5.56/.223 (Palmetto State Armory)

Felt the need for something a little bigger so I got a 7.62x39 AK47.

Then I wanted something BIGGER than that... so I bought a .308 Remington 700.

I'm done. Other than buying random pieces and throwing my money out the door for looks. I'm a sucker for a cool/neat/pretty rifle.

15-22 / .223

For me it was the love of my M&P 15 .223/5.56 also owning a failure of rifle the elusive Mossberg 715t .22lr-
after spending alot of time clearing jams and swearing at my .22 and having a blast with my m/p 15 /.223 i decided to take the plunge and get a 15-22. I can tell you i have NEVER looked back.

I forgot how much Fun a .22 can be. I am now shooting through entire mags without a hitch.... EVER!
This .22 will eat any ammo "chambered correctly obviousley" that i feed it.--- Cleaning regiment is stringent though...

iI your on the fence, JUMP off and you will be happy-
take down and controls mirror the big brother-
Moss, Colt, and others are non extistent or false.

safe shootings

devilman-

My first rifle was the 15-22 with magpul furniture last summer, and LOVE it. But it's a gateway gun because just a few months later I bought a S&W MP15 Sport and LOVE that gun too. I, like many of you, love to research the **** out of things and thought "some day I'll buy a really nice AR". With the recent events I was concerned that I may not be able to buy another, so went ahead and bought a Black Rain Ordinance in January. I don't regret any of these purchases, actually I think they were very wise, and would recommend any of them. The 15-22 is great to shoot for cheap and closely match using an AR, good training. If you're just getting into rifles and don't want to sink a ton of money into it right away, yeah start with a 15-22. It's a great gun!

just picked up a sweet new RRA 5.56/.223 carbine today.got it dressed in magpul FDE parts and a nice 3-9x42 illuminated scope.my LGS has been great at getting mags, ammo, and AR's in general and even had some left handed RRA AR's too.i shoot lefty but opted for the right hand set up since i am used to shooting my 15-22.i just need to flip the safety selector over so i can operate it with my left hand but other than that i wont be doing anything to the RRA.

Apologies if there is a thread for this but I couldn't find it. Question is how many of you also own a .223/5.56 (S&W, other complete or custom build) in addition to your 15-22? Did you have it before you got a 15-22 or did 15-22 lead you to the higher caliber?

Maybe you should have asked "how many 223/556 AR's do you own?" :D

I've owned various AR's since the 80's. The 15-22 came in a couple years ago.
