How many rounds do you shoot before cleaning

I don't think I have ever shot less than 500 rounds each time I take it out. I have like a one bulk pack minimum.

Same her I go through at least 1 box Fed 550, 1 box mini mag's and a box of stinger's, Spend the rest of the Hour shotting my M&P 40 & Rugger .357 mag. With 4 mag's it don't take long to go through the .22's LOL

Whats the best product to use to lube up the 15-22? In the Army we used nothing but CLP, but is that safe to use on the 15-22?

500'ish rounds works for me. Barrel too. Just don't get hamfisted with it and the barrel's gonna be fine.

I think he means "Don't just jam the cleaning rod in there." But yeah, careful around the ejector, careful that it's only the brushes touching and not the rod scraping.

Would a bore snake be better than using a cleaning rod?

Yes.

Bore snakes are ok for a quick cleaning in the field, but not for a full cleaning. You need to get solvent and clean patches down the bore.

With my rifle it might seem different but I clean at different times for different ammo. A fed bulk box and I'm dashing home to clean but auto match can still keep a good condition after two boxes and then some. Different ammo has different amounts of excess powder. Clean accordingly.

Well 300 rounds tonight with one fail to feed (1st round might have been a magazine not fully inserted i.e. operator error) and one fail to fire - bad primer IMHO. Not too bad with the cleaning - I think the federal bulk pack isn't too dirty compared to some other brands I've used. I'm sure I could have put another 100 rounds or more through it without a problem. (just had no more ammo or time on the range).

Thanks for all the input, I think I'll stick to what I've been doing, cleaning after every range trip.

Every firearm I have gets a full cleaning when it comes home from the range.

My 15-22 started getting failures to fire (about 1 out of every 10 rounds) after a 100 rounds today. Pulled the bolt and gave the face of it a good cleaning. Went through 160 rounds after that without another one.

So... Clean the rifle after each range session, and do additional cleaning to the bolt when necessary.

I had that problem where every magazine of 10, 1 would not go off. I think it was my pack of ammo. Shot 300 the other day with no problems whatsoever. Would have tried another 100 but I was out. I'm gunna clean it before the next time

The FTfire had a good clean strike indention and went off without a problem when rotated and struck again. I've had the big black gob of goo block the firing pin before and it results in no bang, but usually there's no strike mark on the cartridge.
Thanks for the input,
