I know that I did.

I just wanted a 'plinker' when 'Mossberg's 715T' caught my eye and I thunk "Wow, what a good price".

Then I started doing research on tactical .22LR's.

The 715T is merely a 'Plinker' wrapped up in a plastic shell. I saw pics of a guy tearing his down, and man, was he disappointed. He was wishing he'd spent the extra $ for a S&W 15/22.

After reading about several more brands S&W was my choice because of the AR 15 platform.

Anyhoo, after owning my MOE for a while and enjoying it more than I should, I thunk, I needs me a real AR now.

So, after doing more research on AR 15's this time, I picked the M&P 15T. Mostly because of the S&W reputation and service department.

Anyone else do the same?

I was looking into getting a M&P 15? But a kart race that is developing at the Circiuts of the Americas, in Austin Texas next July will limit me on my gun funds..

I actually went the other way. Been a big centerfire shooter for many years. Had my 1st ar15 in 1983. Price of ammo dictated for me to buy a 15-22 for practice etc. (and they multiplied, got 2 now :) )

I did the same thing. I've had AR's for years and issued M4's and M16's while in the Army. I saw the 22 caliber versions as a way to shoot a familiar gun but not have the recoil and expense.

I would like to say me, but the M&P15 isnt available here, so I bought a different brand AR15. But the 15-22 was definitly the one that pushed me towards a full size AR

Kinda.....

I've got other rifles but never owned an AR. I got a S&W 15-22 in January. I then proceeded to shoot the bajeebas out if it. Last month I bought my first AR...a DPMS Oracle.

The M&P 15 wasn't in town when I went looking but I've been happy with what I got.

The M&P15 is now a banned firearm in Connecticut. Those already owned here must be registered as an assault weapon by 01 JAN 2014.

Does that also apply to the 15-22 or just to 5.56?

I knew I wanted a 5.56, but bought the 15-22 first due to an unexpected windfall. Bought a Bravo Company 16" mid-length a few months later.

The 15T and 15Sport, not the 15-22, although we are back to the pinned stock / naked barrel model.

Ugh. Well at least you're better off than New York. As I understand it they can't have a 15-22 at all now. :(

I started with an AR15 and purchased my 15-22 to use as a training tool.

To be honest, my 15-22 is more fun to shoot.

Most of my shooting is plinking. The 15-22 is so inexpensive to shoot that I find myself going for it first.

I'm in this boat but the boat hasn't docked yet to complete the journey.

I have bought 2 m&p 15-22's over the last year. When the timing is right for me I will be getting a full size m&p 15.
Besides,I am already committed,I got a good deal on 900 rounds of .223 so picked it up.

I hope you're doing something about it!!!

.

This is part of the 2nd-amendment destroying legislation passed in the wake of Newtown. There are already two lawsuits, but it will be a couple of years before they actually get heard, probably.

Enough political discussion ...

I started with mini-14's and AR's cause of the 223/5.56 round and the Army instilling in me that it was the ideal round but I bought a 15-22 as soon as I could... reason cheaper to shoot/train with and love it more every time I go shooting it.

Did the opposite too. Bought a M&P-15 and then 15-22 because I couldn't afford to shoot the 5.56. I have each rifle outfitted with the same Troy 13" Alpha Rail, Magpul ACS-L stock, Magpul Grip, and Sightmark sight. Other than the weight, they feel very much the same.

I started looking at AR's a while back, about the time I was ready to pull the trigger was when the **** hit the fan. I was looking at other stuff when I ran across the 15-22 & the more I looked the more I wanted it.
I do plan on looking at the M&P 15. Does anyone know what the price was before the panic sell out ?
